Non operation of tl-wpa4220

I own three TL-WPA 4220 units, I originally bought the starter kit and it works well.
I then bought a third TL-WPA 4220 as a manufacturer refurbished unit to add to the system, this third unit however did not allow me to connect via the ethernet ports, after complaining to the seller , I was advised to pair the inoperative adapter with one of the good adapters, this I did but unfortunately, all this achieved was two non operational adapters!!
Now neither of these adapters now work correctly, all ethernet ports are off and I'm unsure if they are sending a wifi signal.
Can anyone help in this and explain how to get both these adapters working properly please?
