IoT network not starting on mesh device
Hi,
Archer BE800 as main router, Archer BE550 as mask device (as on picture below).
IoT network enabled on main router BE800 is not enabled on mesh device - BE550 ( Firmware Version 1.1.2 Build 20250317 rel.18331(4555); Hardware Version Archer BE550 v1.0). Thank you in advance for advice how to make it work (if possible).

best regards
Andrzej

Hi @Andrzej_M,
Thank you for contacting our community.
Currently, the TP-Link EasyMesh only supports extending 2.4G & 5G. And most 6G-Supported Wi-Fi 7 Routers also support extending 6G network. However, MLO/IoT/Guest Wi-Fi can't be extended in an EasyMesh network.
However, we have already taken these feature requests into account and hope to implement them in future firmware updates.
Thank you again for your cooperation and kind understanding.

@Joseph-TP
Hi Joseph,
BE550 as mesh device has no option to check ethernet ports status = pls, consider adding that, quite a bsic functionality, as well.
thanks,
best regards

@Joseph-TP Yes please! I think a lot of us are waiting for IOT with Mesh 👍
Many thanks

Hi @Joseph-TP
Thank you for confirming that the team is looking into this.
I want to add a crucial perspective on why this feature is so important, beyond just convenience.
In a modern home environment, the majority of connected clients are now IoT devices (smart plugs, cameras, sensors). Many of these devices lack the latest security standards (WPA3, robust firewalls, etc.). Connecting them to the main network exposes our personal devices (phones, laptops, NAS) to unnecessary risk.
The "IoT Network" feature is the perfect solution for this isolation, but it renders itself useless if it doesn't extend to the satellite nodes. Since IoT devices are often scattered at the edges of the home (garage, garden, corners of rooms)—exactly where we rely on satellite coverage—we end up forced to connect them to the main network just to get a signal, defeating the purpose of network segregation.
This brings me to my second point regarding prioritization:
I currently run Archer AX10 v3 routers as satellites (via Ethernet backhaul). In many real-world mesh setups, the satellite nodes are often entry-level routers like the AX10 that users have repurposed to extend coverage. We generally don't buy a top-tier flagship router just to act as an access point in a hallway.
Therefore, prioritizing this update for entry-level/mid-range models would have the most significant impact on network security and user experience.
I hope this helps the development team understand the urgency of this request.
Thanks!
