TP-LINK AC1300 won't pass 250mbps on Wi-fi 5Ghz band
TP-LINK AC1300 won't pass 250mbps on Wi-fi 5Ghz band

Hi, I have an AC1300 T3U(EU) Ver.1.0 adapter and I can't make it go above 250Mbps on my pc with Windows 11. I have tried
Different drivers with no succecs
Different usb ports
I have change my router width on 5Ghz band channels to different values
I have tried from my Devices-advanced settings to make the adapter operate only at IEEE 802.11a/a/n/ac values eg
My adapter wont pass the 250mbps speed even if windows finds the max speed at 866mbps, my pc and the router have max distance 4 meters with no obstacles between
My phone can maximise the router speed of 500mbps+ and it's on the same distance with my pc.
Any help will be apriciated.

Usually these USB Wi-Fi dongles work pretty well in USB 3.0 mode on Intel hardware, as long as the Wi-Fi dongle's driver supports USB 3.0.
Have you restarted Windows since you installed the driver version 1030.52.325.2025? Sometimes this is necessary.
Also note that these drivers only switch to USB 3.0 mode once you attempt to connect to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal. (you should hear Windows making those "ding-dang" sounds)
I've just installed the driver 1030.52.325.2025 that I linked to above on my computer (it's an AMD system) and my Archer T4U V3 works in USB 3.0 mode with this driver. (technically it should be the same as a T3U, just a different size and shape)

Watch the soluation in this video, I tried it and it worked

Don't forget to restart the PC after making the changes
With this solution I got another issue, When I play an online game the connection will drop. The solution for that is by changing the entry in regedit from 2 to 1 to force the Driver to use USB 2.0 again to make the connection stable while gaming online. I don't know if you will face this issue or not but keep that in mind
Note: After every wifi driver update or Windows big update (for example from 24H2 to 25H2) the registry entries will be reseted and you will need to make the changes again

Hi,
Driver version 1030.44.1014.2024 is known to only support USB 2.0, which limits data transfer to below 300 Mbps.
Has Windows 11 not offered you any newer drivers yet?
My computers have already received a few ****.2025 driver versions this year.
In case you have not checked for optional driver updates yet, then maybe do now. (in Windows Update go to "Advanced options" -> "Optional updates" -> "Driver updates")

No Windows didn't offer me 2025 drivers, I have used the TP-Link Drivers from the site
And then windows change this driver with 1030.44.1014.2024.
Either way both those drivers limit the data to 250mbps

Can you please use some software to determine whether the T3U currently works in USB 2.0 mode or USB 3.0 mode? (for example "SIV System Information Viewer" or "USB Device Tree Viewer")

Here are the screens... My mobo is an PRIME B460-PLUS, I have tryed the adapter in almost all the USB ports, infront and back at the motherboard that claims to be USB 3.2 gen1. Do you think it's an Windows USB driver issue? Intel has stoped driver support for the usb 3 hab and windows use their own driver.

@woozle I have restarted the pc many times, aslo connected to 2.4ghz network and back to 5ghz but nothing happened. I thing even if the device is usb3 it operates at usb2.1 for some reason
I also install an external USB3.0 HDD and I can see it operates at USB3.0 protocol so the system drivers don't seems to be the problem, it reaches 80+mb/s at the same port I connect the AC1300 adapter

Hi,
I had a look into the Optional Updates section of my Windows and saw I was also offered the 1030.52.731.2025 driver. So I decided to give it a try.
The result is that version 1030.52.731.2025 of the driver definitely doesn't support USB 3.0 SuperSpeed mode.
