Archer AX73 Low local download and upload to attached hard disk
Hello from Bulgaria, i have problem with download and upload speed to my attached hard disk. Before my max speed using laptop with lan cable was arround 75mb/s. Even if i use 5GHZ WI-FI network speed was the same (max 75mb/s). This speed was achieved by laptop and mobile phone.
Now i dont have the same speed and i cant figure out why. At this moment max download and upload speed is max 38-39mb/s. My attached hard disk max speed is 5 Gbit/s.
About my network :
From my internet provider i have router 1GBit/S and i use it as swich with WI-FI networks OFF. (ip 192.168.1.1)
My AX73 is connected with lan cable to the main router and im using it in Access Point Mode with DHCP Auto and Static ip settigs (192.168.1.100 is the Archer`s ip)
My USB settings are - secure and media sharing on , samba and local ftp are on.
I have TP-Link AV600 connected to Archer and one tv box (EON TV)
Im downloading and uploading to the HDD only on my main WI-Fi 5GHZ network or with my laptop with lan cable.
Every WI-FI user recieves from my Archer ip 192.168.1xx
Any ideas how to rise again my local download and upload speed to the hdd ?
Thank you :)

Hi@quix,
Thank you for contacting our community.
May I know what was the hard disk speed before? Does the HDD speed drop also start with the router speed drop?
Here are some steps to help troubleshoot the slow internet speed issue:
- Please make sure the speed of your ISP/Modem is good by connecting a PC directly into the ISP Modem/Router.
- To verify wired (Ethernet) speed of your Router, please connect the PC directly into the LAN ports of the Router, make sure all Ethernet cables are CAT5E and above.
- When testing with wireless, please connect your phone/laptop to the high speed network (5G/6G) instead of 2.4G. In order to reach maximum throughput over wireless, put the phone/Laptop next to the Router.
Here are some tips which might improve the speed of your Archer Router:
- Disable QoS, please access http://tplinkwifi.net and go to Advanced >> QoS to disable it.
- Disable Parental Control, please go to Advanced >> Parental Control to disable it.
- If wireless speed is slower than expected, please go to Advanced >> Wireless Settings to change the 5GHz Wi-Fi channel, you may try different channels to find the best one for your environment.
- Disable SIP ALG and UPNP, please go to Advanced >> NAT Forwarding >> UPNP to disable UPNP, go to Advance >> Security to disable SIP ALG.
- Try a few other speedtest servers, other servers might reach better speeds.
Best Regards~

Hello, my local speed on cable with laptop or with 5GHZ WI-FI network with laptop and mobile phone was 75mb/s download and upload before to my attached hdd.
If i attach my hdd to my laptop with usb my max speed download and upload is over 150mb/s.
PS. I tryed with your suggestion settings but nothing happends.
My main problem is my local download and upload speed to the attached hdd. My outside internet speed is ok.

Hi@quix,
I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Please verify that the DHCP on the AX73 is properly disabled. Could you let me know if you changed the router to Access Point mode by selecting the operation mode?
Please remove the AV600 to eliminate power interference.
Please compare the previous speed of 75 Mbps. Have you changed any settings on the router? For example, have you enabled QoS or a speed limit?
Please change the 5 GHz channel and compare again to see if the speed can be increased.
Best Regards.

@Joseph-TP Hello, with DHCP off and changed WI-FI Channels now on WI-FI my laptop achieves ~80mb/s, on cable my speed is 115-120mb/s.
Unfortunately only my phone`s speed is arround 20mb/s on 5GHZ network.

Hi@quix,
I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Do you mean that only the phone's speed is not ideal? If so, you can close other clients and test the phone's speed alone to see if it's normal.
Also, have you set QoS to limit the phone's speed?
On the phone, forget WiFi and reconnect to the router.
