Model: Archer BE550
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Just awaiting delivery of TP Link Archer BE550 and not sure if I need further equipment . I am awaiting installation of full fiber to property ~(Trooli 900 )  . Do I still need the supplied modem ( Zyxel ex5601-TO ) to connect to the fiber ONU  then connect to the BE550  , or Can the ONU be connected straight to the BE550  without the Zyxel . Just need confirmation before the instal takes place . Thank you

Zyxel ex5601-TO is an Integrated Access Device (IAD) router -  It integrates various communication services, like voice and data.

ex5601-TO has 2x  POTS FXS ports which BE550 doesn't have. I would suggest that if you don't use any voice services from your ISP you should be able to connect BE550 directly, bypassing Zyxel ex5601-TO. In any case the ISP technician should be able to answer your question.

Hi,

Just a kind reminder. Make sure that you have the PPPoE username and password for the Trooli FTTP connection at hand when you connect the BE550 directly to the ONU.

@woozle  Thank you for that . I will call them today as soon as Trooli open as my install is booked later today . I did ask ( before I signed up) if I could use my own equipment . I was told that they would give me all the info to change over from their router ( Zyxel EX5601-TO ). I have written down all the info from the back of their router . SSID , wireless key , username , Password  ip addy . THe BE550 from what i gather can be set up using the android app (Tether) I already have a couple of TP-Link X50 deco's already working on BT network so will disconnect them if a poor wireless signal from the BE550
