Model: RE700X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi there,

a few days ago I purchased 2 units of the Wi-Fi Repeater RE3000X(DE), both with hardware version V1. This model is intended specifically for the German market, but is apparently largely identical to the RE700X.

I have now discovered the same model with hardware version V2 in some shops surprise

Unfortunately, I have not found any information on the differences between the two hardware revisions. V1 can also not be updated to V2 via firmware update. These are two different devices with separate updates.

Have basic things (faulty components etc.) been fixed or performance improved in version V2?

On my "old" V1, for example, I noticed that the repeater gets very warm during operation, which makes me fear a rather short service life. Has this problem been fixed in V2?

Thanks for any help smiley

Hi@Workaholic,

Thank you for contacting our community.

Currently, there is no difference in functions and performance between versions V1 and V2. RE3000X(DE)1.0/2.0 is a Remodel based on the RE700X(EU)1.0/2.0

It is normal for the TP-Link range extender to generate heat during operation. Typically, device temperatures below 60°C (140°F) are considered safe. If your extender is working normally and the temperature is within this range, no need to worry.
Here are some tips to ensure proper ventilation and prevent overheating:
    1. Place the extender in a dry, open environment. Avoid covering it with any items.
    2. Keep the extender away from other operating electronic equipment, heaters, and direct sunlight.

Best Regards.

Hi @Joseph-TP,

Thank you for your quick reply.

My two RE3000X seem to be working properly according to Tether. If the strong heat development is normal, I am reassured. I have made sure that the devices are freely ventilated and placed in the shade. I was a little surprised that the heat doesn't really decrease when I reduce the transmission power.

Another question:

My router warns me that another device (= the RE3000X) is emitting a WLAN with the same SSID. Is this a problem and should the RE3000X work better with its own SSID? (which is the default setting).

Thank you and best regards.

Hi@Workaholic,

Thank you for your reply.

You can decide whether to use different SSIDs based on your needs.
The advantage of using different SSIDs is that you can manually control the connection and reduce configuration conflicts; the disadvantage is that you cannot experience seamless switching, and network maintenance may increase the difficulty of operation.

Best Regards.
