Model: RE505X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.13 Build 20230926 Rel. 181123

Hiyas, bit of a weird one with my RE505x (Uk version V1 and the latest firmware) When the 5ghz band is connected from the router to the extender at all it stops Wi-Fi working altogether. All lights on and showing 5ghz and 2.4 connected and shows connected in both the app and the the web link but nope no joy getting internet and connected to either the 2.4 or 5ghz extender SSID (both individually named)

The only way I can get it to work is by going into the high speed settings and selecting 2.4ghz from router to extender and 5ghz from extender to device. Anytime the extender receives a 5ghz signal it just stops working even though everything reports as fine. Reset and rebooted both the extender and router (Virginmedia Hub 5 Wifi 6 capable) quite a few times but nope nothing seems to work.

I've changed the 5ghz to channel 36, 40, 44 and 48 through the router one at a time to see if it was causing a problem. Both bands are named separately (both router bands and extender SSIDs and correctly setup and the extender is within range. Does it seem like the extender itself is knackered? It seems like as soon as the extender receives 5ghz from the router it throws a wobbly but works faultlessly if I completely disable the 5Ghz from router to extender by disabling the auto high speed and manually selecting the 2.4 from router to 5ghz to device. I'm more than likely missing something so obvious though.

No biggie as it works just wondering if it's time to upgrade.

@Joseph-TP whoops spoke too soon. Think it's more down to a conflict problem with the hub 5 more than anything. Moved the re505x back to its usual spot and had a problem connecting after it had rebooted so did a reset. Seems like it's a problem with the Virginmedia Hub allocating the IP automatically to the extender so I've set it to a manual one in the lan settings section in the tether app and it's gone back to being rock solid and works faultlessly after numerous reboots just to check. Oh well alls well that ends well and I've saved a backup so if I ever need to factory reset I can just clank it back on. Huge thanks again.

Hi@Yesrab,

The following are the device lists that support Onemesh and Easymesh, respectively. You can check whether RE505X in your area supports these two functions:
TP-Link OneMesh Devices

TP-Link EasyMesh Devices for Home

Good day~

Hiya   @Yesrab RE505x V1 supports onemesh but I think only the V2 supports easymesh. I think I remember seeing that it was due to potentially be released for the V1 a while ago but nothing since unfortunately. .

yeah just had a quick search and found it https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/618420

Huge thanks  @Joseph-TP . I manually updated the firmware the team had kindly sent me and it's now working faultlessly. Went from 70 mbps with the wonky way I had to connect it  to over 240 mbps as its now utilising the bands correctly on auto. Thanks again Joseph have a great one.

@Joseph-TP love both the tether app and the tplinkrepeater page. So handy for configuration and quick checks. Yeah problems definitely solved with a manual lan ip it's never faltered after numerous extender placements and reboots. Must be some sort of conflict with the router allocating one on auto. Checked that it wasn't a duplicate when set to auto and it looked fine but yeah it's more than likely a slight problem between the router and extender ip allocation when on auto lan ip. I've even tried the backup and restore of the manually set one just to check and it works perfectly. Woohoo happy days. Have a cracking weekend.

Hi all, I have also issues with this extender and ax21 router. The past published update is from 2023, is there anything newer? thanks!
