I'm having a lot of problems with a fully wireless connection through a TL-WA850RE. I have ethernet cables all through my house so I would like to wire the connection from the router to the extender and go wireless from there on. In the setup guide they talk about a wired connection but I think they are referring to the connection from the extender to a computer. Anyway, can you tell me if what I want to do is possible and if so, how to set it up?

It seems that you need an access point but WA850RE has only range extender mode.
Router(Wi-Fi)>>>><<<<(Wi-Fi)TL-WA850RE(Wi-Fi or LAN)
That's how range extender works.
Router(LAN)--------------(LAN)Access Point(Wi-Fi)>>>><<<<(Wi-Fi)Clients
That's how access point works.

So if I stick with TP-Link I would have to buy one of their outside access points as none of their range extenders could run on LAN from the router, correct?

As I know, WA830RE is a range extender but it has access point option. There are many of their products which have access point mode.

850RE allows client through ethernet point

Up right there is an icon for mode.Select that and change choice to access point.
