Model: Archer AXE75
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.2 Build 20240827 ref.68051

Hello,

I bought the Arched Axe75 router to replace a Netgear D7800 NightHawk router that I believed at the time was doing an excellent job (it was not that stellar as it turned out). The Archer came and at 145 Mbs (th speed I was paying for) I was getting regularly 148-150 across the whole (4 bedroom detached) house. With the NighHawk I coul dnever go above 135 Mbs even in the same room.

My internet contract renewal came in and I decided to go to 900 Mbs given my router was doing a splendid job.

I have had it for ten days now and I cannot explain why the speed across the house dropped by 60% for no obvious reason apart from the new speed I am paying for.

I have checked with a LAN cable directly connected to my laptop and I am getting 930 Mbs, but once on WiFi, 2 feet away from the router, the signal drops to 750 Mbs. If I went to the first floor I would be looking at 320 Mbs.

Is there anything I am missing or is there anything I can do to increase the speed across the house? New Firmware? Anything?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers

Hi @John_Yossarian,

Thank you for contacting our community.

How large an area do you want your network to cover?

Here are a few tips to help you make the right decision:
    1. Placement: Try your best to put the router in the center of the house to ensure maximum Wi-Fi coverage, make sure it is not too high or too low horizontally.
    2. Avoid interference: Keep the router away from electrical appliances and metal objects that can disrupt Wi-Fi signals.
    3. Minimize obstructions: Place the router in open area, avoid putting it inside any box/cabinet/shelf.
    4. Protect from excessive exposure: Avoid placing the router in areas with excessive sunlight or heat.
