Smart Connect not switching back to 5GHz automatically on Archer C64
Hi TP-Link Team,
I'm facing an issue with the Smart Connect feature on my Archer C64 router, and this has been happening consistently for almost 2 years now.
Here’s the problem:
Whenever I enable Smart Connect, I expect my dual-band Wi-Fi to automatically switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz based on signal strength and proximity to the router.
-
When I move away from the router, my phone automatically switches from 5GHz to 2.4GHz, which is expected.
-
However, when I come back near the router, it stays stuck on 2.4GHz, no matter how long I wait.
-
It only connects back to the 5GHz band if I manually toggle the Wi-Fi off and on again on the device.
Additional points:
-
This issue occurs on all my devices, including Android phones and Windows laptops.
-
All of these devices support 5GHz Wi-Fi and work perfectly with 5GHz when connected directly.
-
My router's firmware is up to date.
-
The issue has been persistent for the past two years.
-
The 5GHz signal is strong and stable when I’m near the router.
This defeats the purpose of Smart Connect, as I expect seamless transition between bands.
Please advise:
-
Is this a known issue with Archer C64 Smart Connect?
-
Are there any advanced settings I can change to fix this behavior?
-
Will this be addressed in a future firmware update?
Thanks in advance.
