Model: TL-WPA7617 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I cannot delete an old device I no longer possess because it malfunctioned. It was replaced long ago with a model of a different brand and then replaced by a TP-Link RE450 mesh repeater. I wanted to register the new mesh repeater but to no avail, it did not work. As I used the tether app I noticed that the old WPA7617 was still listed as "local device". I could not delete that one. When clicking on it, it tries to connect to it but can't because it is no longer there and working. In the TP Link cloud site there are no devices listed, it seems (different from hints from ai asking btw) that this site does not control wifi/dlan devices like tether would do, it only shows cameras to be added. so no way of deleting the old repeater there either. so what is the procedure of...

- deleting the old one

- adding the new one, so that it can be configured by smartphone

Hi @Makake77,

Thanks for getting back to me.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—router )))((( RE450

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Would you like to set up an EasyMesh network? If so, you can refer to How to add an extender to an EasyMesh network as a satellite device.

For error messages that indicate that you cannot delete or add a device, please provide relevant screenshots.

Hi@Makake77,

Welcome to our community.

To delete a device in the Tether app, follow these steps:
    1. Open the Tether App: Launch the Tether app on your mobile device.
    2. Log In: If prompted, log in with your TP-Link account credentials.
    3. Find the device you wish to delete. It is usually listed on the main dashboard or under the "My Devices" section.
    4. Click the i-icon on the right side of the device and select Unbind to delete it.

For the TL-WPA7617, have you used the tpPLC App to manage it? Since we cannot directly control the powerline unit via the Tether App.

Is there any error message when you try to delete the offline devices? Please take screenshots with error message and send them here.

  @Joseph-TP

does not work unfortunately. I do not remember configuring this one with the tpPLC utitliy. While the other one I try to configure with tether app IS listed in the tpPLC with the other powerline adapters. Since it has a mesh/repeater function I'd like to have it in tether app listed.

as for the old TL-WPA7617: when clicking the "i" icon it opens a page where it shows the device as pic with two lines of information > "device model" and "MAC Adress". No option to unbind it or any other
