Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: Archer C6(EU)_V4_1.13.6 Build 240430

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/716222

Exactly as the linked, every several days (15-18) the device resets itself, after 8-10 months of correct operation.

Tried also to update to firmware "Archer C6(EU)_V4_1.13.7 Build 240515_EE_LV_LT" obtaining the same results. 1 self reset with "Archer C6(EU)_V4_1.13.6 Build 240430", 2 with "Archer C6(EU)_V4_1.13.7 Build 240515_EE_LV_LT"

Mac address of the involved router is 50:91:E3:BB:6C:CF; if TP-Link ID would report on the website the registered products serial number, I would report it here.

Following the answer.

    1. Ensure that the router is connected to a stable power source. A fluctuating or unreliable power supply can cause the router to reset.

Device is connected at the very same socket

    2. Make sure the original power adapter is used, try another power socket/outlet.

Same exact original power adapter used since its first operation

    3. Check for firmware updates and ensure it is using the latest firmware.

Had the latest "italian" firmware at the first occurrence, the latest available firmware for the hardware at the subsequent two

    4. Perform a manual reset by holding reset button until power LED flashing.

Glad to perform the full manual reset when an advisory about "configuration problem for Firmware 1.13.6 will be released frop TP-Link.
Configuration has been the same since the first operation and was the same for every day of use. Configuration has been restored from a backup every self-reset.

    5. Inspect the router for any physical damage or loose connections. Ensure that all cables are securely connected to their respective ports.

No loose connection or physical damage for all the visual inspections.

Hi @Joseph-TP, thanks for your answer.

I'm sorry being late for the follow-up, however I hope this experience could help also other persons.

For several reason, I did not took the "contact support" path: device is operating a bit far for me and waiting for suppor timing eventually could be a not good idea for the arrangement. It's not support staff and organization fault, it's the situation is operating the one to blame.

Since the report of the second configuration failure in 1 month, the device has been working (ish) 24/7 with some (3) forced reboot operation (power off, 1 minute wait, power on) solve some WAN-related connection issues. The configuration reset not occurred since 1st week of July 2025.

This morning I found that is available a new firmware for my router: 1.15.0 Build 250729 Rel.63726n(4555). I cannot find any release notes about this firmware in any Archer C6 support page in europe; I also used google, that found a post a post on this forum about C80 router.
I was also sad to find that other TP-Link devices's support page for some version the "firmware" page is not available.

Are the notes available for customers? I would like to read them if possible.

Thanks for your time and attention.

Hi @Street_Ball ,

Compared with 1.14.30 Build 250729 Rel.74228n(4555), it mainly improves security and stability. So you can update to 1.15.0 Build 250729 Rel.63726n(4555).

@Joseph-TP Thanks for the useful informations. :)

For the release notes, may the community have a link to read them?

Most of the users do not use support page, however... a lot of other users might want to take a look. So firmware download links and release notes are always very useful! :)

@Joseph-TP same here; I cannot upgrade to latest version of firmware - it always says that error occured at 90% of download of v1.15.0 version of firmware.

Where I can get the firmware donwload and update it manually?

Hoping to provide a useful (yet not "official" hint)...

Consider to reboot your router before upgrade the firmware.

 Hi @Joseph-TP ,

after more than two weeks the most updated firmware available for Italian support page is... Not the one I installed.

And on the global support page...

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/archer-c6/v4/#Firmware

version available is Archer C6(EU)_V4_1.14.30 Build 250729.

which is still somehow "older" than the one I installed. Which has the same build date, but a different version number (1.15).

I know that's not your responsability or in your capabilities to decide what TP-Link would publish and where, but feel customer confused seems not the smartest idea for good marketing return.

Still I have to share: from the update to 1.15.0 no issues so far. And still eager to read release notes.

Hello @Street_Ball ,

Thank you for your feedback.
As far as I can tell, there are no significant changes between 1.15.0 and 1.14.30.

The 1.15.0 primarily features the Optimize auto-update feature.

Re:Archer C6 v4 - resets itself to default
2 weeks ago

I'm sad to report that the device got stuck again roughly ten days ago; everything was working, except WAN port not in desire to receive lease from DHCP server.

For several reasons, I decided for a reconfiguration from scratch of the router, which took several iterations to deliver all the services/options I delivered through time. I reset to default the device, then started reconfiguration.

In the same event I managed to get around some issues on a RE500X.

I thought it was the culprit of the issue (acts like a AP Client on WAN side of Archer C6), and I tested the LAN cable side on a desktop computer and a laptop for trying to understand if there was the issue. Actually was not.

I decided to reset RE500X to "solve" the Archer C6 issues, but the option was not the correct one. Then the C6 manual reset

In any case, both on global

https://www.tp-link.com/it/support/download/archer-c6/#Firmware

and local to me

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/archer-c6/v4/#Firmware

support websites. 1.15 version of firmware is not listed, available for download and no release notes available;  this is not a behavior that I expect from a consumer product company.

The network gear is quite hard to define "reliable, something to depend on with trust". From other brands in decades I found...

  • support website accessible and with al the information and files, "no matter the region" (this does not apply to ADSL/VDSL routers, every region own rules)
  • reliable upgrade path from one firmware version to another, unless reported in documentation
  • stable operational configuration, hardly the device got stuck and was in need to a config reset (this applies also to Winstars repeaters with "Silver Crest" brand on it).

I have 4 devices on my Tether App. RE200 v5 updated yesterday, no firmware 1.10 on the website.
USB wireless nics and PCIe-slot nics are really nice for the price point: excellent tolerances, streamline install (after stripping out from the downloaded files the drivers), nice performances and stable experience.

But  how I could consider this brand interesting with these issues and instabilities, at least on network device?
