1. All lights are off? If you try different wall sockets but no difference, it should be faulty. Replace it under warranty.
2. I didn't see WPA481 on TP-LINK website. Did you refer to WPA281 or WPA4220? LAN ports on both of them are 100Mbps Ethernet Ports.
3. If you want to cover the above room, you may buy another powerline extender and place it there.

1. Not working in any sockets. Trying to establish how to get replaced, bought online and waiting for response from site.
2. Apologies, yes its the WPA281 (will change title if I can). Box clearly states 200Mbps on Powerline and 300Mbps on Wifi. Not a huge issue.
3. Yes. I thought 1 would be enough if placed in correct area would extend to that room and room above.

Can't seem to change the title from AV300 TL-WPA481 to AV200 TL-WPA281 on title... maybe an admin can
