Model: Archer BE230
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Recently purchased a TP-Link Dual-Band BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 Router (Archer BE230)

Have this device networked in the house with two PCs hardwired via Ethernet.

Have one hardwired to another building router,

Have a USB drive for photos/movies and drag & drop files.

Having issues in the external building as devices there (two TVs, 3 smart switches, a PC, and Alexa  dropping out).

Also having issues in the house where the PC's frequently lose their signals and switch to wireless.

So I was thinking it might be two routers colliding.

I am willing to purchase an extender with a cat5 RJ45 port) to the external building therefore eliminating the 2nd router.

(The buried cable has worked fine for years, using it right now).

I need assistance:

What device to purchase?

How to configure it?

Thank you for any recommendations you may have.

Hello @R2D2_4u ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

External building router—BE230)))((( wireless clients

                                             |

                                             —2 PCs+USB drive

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

For unstable wired connection, please refer to:

For unstable wireless connection:

  • Make sure the Router is properly placed; it should be put in an open area instead of inside a cabinet or shelf.
  • Change the wireless channel to another one. Changing Channel and Channel Width on a TP-Link Router (new logo).
  • Change channel to avoid interference. For 2.4GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 2.4GHz channel width to 20MHz; for 5 GHz wireless client devices, adjust the 5GHz channel width to 80MHz or 40MHz, etc.
