Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.5

I've been using an AX55 router for several months. After switching from an Archer C6U, I was delighted with the improvement. But for the past two weeks, the AX55 has been behaving similarly. WiFi speeds are much slower, and sometimes devices won't connect immediately, with occasional delays. One work laptop often won't connect to the network in the morning. I've been investigating this issue since yesterday. Today, I discovered that if I reset the router and just go through the initial setup, everything works as it did when I bought it. But after a few minutes without changing any configuration, the router slows down again. The only thing that happens is devices connect to the router. I have about 30 devices: TVs, laptops, smartphones, IOT devices, and so on. But I haven't added any devices in the last two weeks. Could it be that this router can't handle so many WiFi devices? If I disable some devices so there are fewer than 20 connected, the router is still slow.

Hello@WSZR ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—router)))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Have you updated the firmware recently?

If you are experiencing slow Internet speed with your TP-Link Archer Router, here are some steps to help troubleshoot the issue:

1. Please use https://www.speedtest.net  or the speedtest APP/CLI(https://www.speedtest.net/apps) for testing speed accurately.

2. Please make sure the speed of your ISP/Modem is good by connecting a PC directly into the ISP Modem/Router.

3. To verify wired(Ethernet) speed of your Router, please connect the PC directly into the LAN ports of the Router, make sure all Ethernet cables are CAT5E and above.

4. When testing with wireless, please connect your phone/laptop to the high speed network (5G/6G) instead of 2.4G. To achieve maximum throughput over wireless, place the phone/Laptop next to the Router.

5. If the upload speed is slow, please confirm with the internet service provider how much upload speed they provide, and connect your device to your modem directly to test whether the upload speed is normal.

Please send the test results here.
