EAP610v3: Firmware v1.6 Isolates Mesh AP

I upgraded my EAP610 v3 to firmware v1.6. Via Ethernet, the AP connects to Omada with no issues. Via Mesh, the node sits wirelessly with status "Isolated". I tried various things, including a factory reset and re-adoption, yet this failed continuously. I reconnected the AP to Ethernet and again it immediately connected to Omada and adopted/provisioned.
I downgraded the AP back to v1.5.3 and it immediately connected to its upstream Mesh AP without issue.

Hi @EyeBrowse
Thanks for posting here.
Did you check the channel? Are they use the same channel before and after the firmware update?
If they are different, please manually change the channel to the working one and see if the situation persists.
Please also let us know the following info for better understanding:
1. What's the difference between the uplink AP and the mesh AP? Are they line of sight?
2. After downgrading the firmware the mesh linked up successfully, did you test on the same point as after updating firmware?
3. What kind of controller and what's the firmware?
With firmware 1.6.0 installed, please move the mesh AP closer to the uplink EAP, or just put it beside the wired AP, and see if the mesh will connect successfully or not.

Hi @Vincent-TP
> Did you check the channel? Are they use the same channel before and after the firmware update?

I did not check this. The controller would actively change it from "Disconnected" when in a powered off state, to "Isolated" when powered on though, so it was visible.
> What's the difference between the uplink AP and the mesh AP? Are they line of sight?
Yes, direct line of sight reading -40dBm from the uplink backhaul AP.
> After downgrading the firmware the mesh linked up successfully, did you test on the same point as after updating firmware?
Yes, exact same location, and it worked immediately upon boot up. Discovery, adoption, provisioning, configuration, connected.
> What kind of controller and what's the firmware?
Omada SDN Controller software installed on a Linux VM on my home server. Software version: v5.15.24.18.

Hi @EyeBrowse
Thanks for the info.
When you have time, would you please update the EAP to 1.6.0 and test I mentioned in the first reply:
1. Change the uplink EAP to different channels, and test agian;
2. Move the mesh AP closer to the uplink EAP, or just put it beside the wired AP, and see if the mesh will connect successfully or not.
In the meantime, we will test mesh with 1.6.0 more. Thanks.

Hi @EyeBrowse
We couldn't reproduce it locally.
To ensure we're on the same page and avoid any misunderstandings, could you please clarify your exact procedure? Did you:
First establish the mesh network, then upgrade the mesh AP to version 1.6.0;
or
Upgrade the AP first, and then found it couldn't form the mesh?
One more question, is the root AP also EAP610 with version 1.6.0? Would you please share a screenshot of the Device page so we could know more details?

The mesh was already established, and I initiated the upgrade from the Omada SDN Controller to push the firmware to the AP across the mesh connection.
The root AP is an EAP610v2 on v1.4.3, the latest available for this revision.
