I have a TP-Link RE705X set up with my home wifi (Rogers, Canada).  Works great.  No problems connecting wirelessly.

 

My PC has wifi disabled and is currently connected via ethernet cable to the RE705X's ethernet port.  Internet works.

 

However, when I look at the Tether app on my iPhone, there is no "Wired" client listed.  Wifi clients are listed.

 

QUESTION 1:  Why is "wired" client not showing on the Tether app?


QUESTION 2: There are no lights showing on the RE705X's ethernet port.  Is this normal?

 

QUESTION 3: My plan is to connect a Synology DS223 to the ethernet port on the RE705X.  Will this work?

Welcome to our community!

 

For clients list display, have you tried a different wired client? 

On the RE705X,there are four LED lights but not ethernet light. You can refer to page 5 of RE705X_V1_User Guide to learn about LED Explanation.

If the Synology DS223 only needs to access internet via Ethernet port, you can connect it to the RE705X's Gigabit Ethernet Port.

Happy to report the Synology DS223 works fine using the ethernet port on the RE705X. 

Also, my PC was able to access the internet through the ethernet port as well.

In both cases, "wired clients" was 0 in the Tether app.  Using the newest versions of the Tether app and the RE705X firmware and restarted the app and the phone.

Fortunately is a small problem to have, but would be nice if someone has a solution.

Please verify that the Synology DS223 is listed in the ‘wireless client’, or it is not displayed in the client list at all. 

Please collect the App log as follows: How to collect the system log of the Tether App

Then email the logs and backup files to support.forum@tp-link.com, attaching [Forum ID 839098] and details, and we will have a dedicated person to assist in analysis and follow-up.

Hello  @Joseph-TP,

The Synology DS223 is currently connected by wire to the RE705X and is working fine.  But it is not listed in 'wireless client' list or the 'wired client' list.  It is not in the client list at all.

 

When my PC (Windows 11 Pro; Asus X870 TUF GAMING PLUS WIFI motherboard) was connected, it also wasn't listed in the client list at all. 

I submitted the logs via email using the instruction on the link you provided.  I mentioned your username and this thread title in the comments if the submission.
