Model: Archer Air R5   Archer C6
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

I have a TP-Link Archer Air R5 as my main router. I picked up a TP-Link Archer C6 (V4) because the listing says it supports EasyMesh. After setting it up, I discovered it apparently won’t do EasyMesh with the Air R5 over an Ethernet backhaul.

1. Is that actually true, does the Air R5 not support wired/Ethernet backhaul EasyMesh with the C6 V4 (or at all)?

2. I need a proper single SSID mesh with Ethernet backhaul. What affordable TP-Link model should I buy that is confirmed to do true EasyMesh (wired backhaul) with the Archer Air R5? I can still return the C6.

3. Does Archer C6 (V4) support ethernet backhaul and full mesh support?

Constraints / notes:

Must be Ethernet backhaul (not wireless repeater).

Prefer staying TP-Link (to keep it simple).

Budget-friendly recommendations appreciated.

Location: India (availability matters).

If you have this working, please share your exact models/firmware and how you set it up. Thanks!

Hello@AswinThotapalli ,

Welcome to our community.

To establish an EasyMesh network with Ethernet Backhaul, both the main unit and satellite units must support EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul.

The Archer Air R5 does not support establishing an EasyMesh network with Ethernet Backhaul.

For more information, please see: TP-Link EasyMesh Devices for Home.

Click "Wired Backhaul" on the left side of the menu to filter for devices that support Ethernet Backhaul.
