Ethernet back haul connection keeps reverting to WiFi on my RE705x range extender.
I would like to connect my RE705x WiFi Range extender Ethernet port to one of my managed LAN switches. The reason I want to connect an Ethernet cable is to provide an improved Backhaul connection to the extremities of my local LAN network.
My home network comprises a Full Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) 1gb WAN connection to my TPLink BE19000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Gaming Router, which has the latest firmware update, and which is connected to a number of managed LAN switches from various providers; Zyxel and Netgear.
My RE705x WiFi range extender is operating in my integrated garage to improve WiFi connectivity for my Smart Ring Cameras, door bells, and EV charging device. The RE705x is operating at the extreme edge of my WiFi LAN connectivity and often shows a weak WiFi signal on the various monitoring apps and on my device too.
So, the problem I am experiencing is that when I monitor the 3m Ethernet Cable connection between my Netgear LAN switch and my RE705x using my TPLink BE19000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Gaming Router app interface, I see the Ethernet cable path show up for a moment, particularly after a reboot of the device. Then the display reverts back to WiFi. My LAN switch port is polling the port, indicating activity on the interface, but I don't see the Ethernet remain active on my monitoring tools.
I have disconnected the Ethernet cable as I am also noticing some issues with performance of the LAN with timeouts evident.
I have searched the various forums and I read that there is a compatibility issue with the RE705x and the use of the Ethernet port for this backhaul function.
Is there a patch update due in the coming months to resolve this issue?
