Internet Connection problems

Have just bought 2 adapters so that I can have wired internet connection with Sky box and Samsung Smart tv. Both adapters are side by side in separate plugs on the wall behind the tv and sky box. They will not both work together. Have swapped over adapters and cables and either Sky has internet or Smart tv has internet. Not both.
Can you help please?
