Model: Archer BE6500
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 build 20240904 rel 35419

For some reason, My router won't go about 500 Mbps; it usually hovers around the 350 range, even though when wired it hits the full 750 Mbps that I'm supposed to be getting. I spent an hour on the phone with my provider, tinkering with channels and whatnot, as I live in an apartment building, and they thought it would be congested on certain channels but to no avail. Then we had a technician from our ISP come to try to fix it, and he also couldn't get it going. He has no idea what the issue is. We went through factory resets on both our router and NBN modem, and still the issue persists. Yet when he plugged in a router that they sell, it worked perfectly fine, which I don't understand since the BE6500 is significantly higher spec'd than the ones they sell. Finally, we thought the router might be faulty, so we returned it and got it replaced and got the exact same results. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. Has anyone else had similar issues? Any help would be appriciated.

Hello @Epping28 ,

Welcome to our community.

For wireless speed tests, connect your device to the high-speed Wi-Fi band (5GHz, not 2.4GHz), and place it close to the router for best results.

• Log in to your router's web interface (http://tplinkwifi.net), go to Advanced > QoS, and make sure QoS is disabled.
• In the Tether app, check Parental Control to ensure no profiles are restricting your speed.
• If wireless speed is still slow, try changing the 5GHz Wi-Fi channel in Advanced > Wireless Settings. Test different channels to see which works best in your apartment environment.
• In the web interface, go to Advanced > NAT Forwarding > UPNP and disable UPNP. Additionally, navigate to Advanced > Security and disable SIP ALG, as this feature may impact Wi-Fi performance and speed test results.
• Speedtest by Ookla allows you to select different servers. Try testing with other servers, as some may provide better speeds.

At last, please update the firmware to the latest version:

Archer BE6500(US)_V1.60_1.0.9 Build 20250417

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have tried everything you mentioned, and the issue still persists. Ive tried both 5Ghz and MLO, which the latter gets better results, but still not what I should be getting. The most I've seen is still 500mbps :(

Hello@Epping28 ,

Generally speaking, wireless connections have lower transmission speeds than wired connections, primarily due to interference in wireless environments.
If this speed works fine, you can continue using the MLO network.
You can also try improving the wireless environment and reducing interference, as appliances like microwave ovens can cause it.
