Model: TX401
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: N/A

Hi,

I’m using a TP-Link TX401 V2 network card, and I’m experiencing severe packet loss and ping spikes whenever there’s a download or a speed test on Windows Server 2025 (and also tested on 2022).

I’ve tried the latest Marvell AQC113 drivers, flashed the BIOS, and tested multiple configurations — including disabling offload, EEE, and power-saving options — but the issue persists.

Interestingly, this problem does not occur on Linux, where the connection remains perfectly stable under load.

I’ve also completely reinstalled Windows Server multiple times, but the behavior remains the same.

Could you please advise what might be causing this or provide an updated driver or firmware fix?

Thank you

  @Aarakocra ,

It is recommended that you change the PCIe configuration in the BIOS from Auto/Gen4 to Gen3.

Also, you can consult the motherboard manufacturer or search for help.

  @Joseph-TP

I’ve already tried that.

Once again, it’s not a motherboard issue — all three of my servers have the same problem. They’re using B850M DS3H / ASUS boards and running Windows Server 2025.

This issue doesn’t occur on Linux, so it’s clearly a driver-related problem

  @Aarakocra ,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Have you tried the driver on the official website? Please click here to install the firmware for TX401_V2, and test the adapter on  Windows Server 2022.

  @Joseph-TP

Yes, I’ve tried that.

On Linux, there’s absolutely no packet loss or ping spikes.

But on Windows Server 2025/2022, after running a few speed tests, the network adapter starts showing ping spikes and packet loss (a few percent each time).

I now have four of these cards behaving the same way.

What can we do next to fix this.

  @Joseph-TP

2xB650M DS3H

1xB650M PRO RD

1xZ790 GIGABYTE

All use TP-LINK TX401

They all have ping spikes and packet loss during downloads or speedtests.

Hello @Aarakocra ,

Thanks for your reply.

I believe you have got the reply from the engineer. I think it's suggested that you sync the info directly with the engineer.
