Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1

Ever since the update last month for the new unpublished firmware update my download speeds have halved from estimate 987mbs downloads to around 540mbs with bad spikes to around 700mbs unstable with ping 7ms. Don't know what the 1.1.1 update fixes or breaks because on the downloads page my installed firmware isn't available on the tplink site still. Also I don't know if the CPU needs new thermal paste because it feels so sluggish. I don't know how to open up this ax50 to maintain the CPU. I have had the modem, router aio for almost five years now. I tried toobs Linksys modem and I get full speeds. What gives? Also toob is stealing money for static IP and refuses to send me the static IP configurations to setup my ax50. They've pinched 2 months static IP pay so far and refuse to take responsibility for their bs service so I'm stuck on dynamic IP. Not sure if it's toob being bellends for not giving me the IP address, subnet, gateway and DNS that's causing slow speeds or tplinks firmware or thermal throttling from the CPU.

Hi,

Firmware 1.1.1 is listed here https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/archer-ax50/#Firmware with information about the changes.

I am not sure about your particular ISP's service, but I would have thought "static IP" means that the ISP will always assign the same IP address to your router, whereas anyone who has not subscribed to the static IP service will have their IP address changed at certain intervals (like once every 24 hours or so).

@woozle  no, my firmware is not on that link... My firmware build is newer than that being published on their downloads site. There's no information about their hotfix for 1.1.1 I have installed on my modem. And I'm not sure if they've known about issues with my build and why it is not released on the downloads page. Or tplink just got sloppy. If anyone has this update and slow performance please get back to me because I'm not sure if I'm faking things. Because everything was working fine before this update dropped last month.

I don't know why the webpage shows different on your device, but here is a screenshot of it for you.

Interesting... I've not been able to get that page before... Now I'm curious.... I think I might need to open the modem up to check processor. Any tips. Questioning if toob is throttling my modem because I'm not using their Linksys crap. So we have parental control. But the government has osa? Wtf

I used to have an AX50 router as well, before I upgraded to a better one. While I didn't have any problems with speed, I was still concerned about that router running so hot. My "solution" was to put some 5 mm thick sticky pads at the bottom four corners of the AX50's housing to increase the gap between the router and the desk where it was placed on. That seemed to improve the air circulation a lot and the router was not so hot anymore.

@woozle I'll just try to snag a ax73 around Christmas. I'll be patient with the ax50 since it's not dead. If things still become unbearable I'll just use toobs crap Linksys until I upgrade my ax50. I've heard they've fixed the processor issues on the ax73 and the ax53 is basically the same as ax50 but with more firmware support when compared to the OG ax50. Also just remembered that sometimes Microsoft delivers bad windows updates that can affect network stability. Who knows it could be last month's W11 25h2 preview update might be bugged. Also found bugs with MSI b550 mpg gaming plus bios so maybe my tplink 2.5gb ethernet card might not be performing correctly since the latest MSI bios is in beta still. Or realtek is working on a new driver. I hate bug testing and not getting paid. Just threw my ax50 in the freezer as it was roasting hot. Let it chill for a bit
