RE500X not reconnecting after it has been scheduled off overnight
Hi All,
I have an RE500X as a WIFI extender to my Archer BE3600 Wifi 7 router. I scheduled the RE500X to power off using the tether app. After one scheduled power off cycle the RE500x doesn't reconnect and the Tether app says cannot login. Any ideas?

Hi @Saracen666 ,
Welcome to our community.
The Power Schedule feature allows you to specify a time period during which the extender is off. Once it takes effect, the RE500X will be in a power-off state.
Do you mean that after the effective period expires, even if the RE500X is already powered on, it cannot automatically reconnect to the Archer BE3600?

Hi, Similar problem here. I installed my re500x in the room where the signal wasn't reaching. It's connected to a power strip with a switch. I installed it using the WPS button. Everything worked. This morning I turned the power strip back on (which I turn off every night), and the extender wasn't working. I had to redo the setup using the WPS button to get it to work. Is this normal? Shouldn't it automatically reconnect every time you turn it on?
I don't know the hardware version or the firmware version. How can I check which ones they are?
I tried enabling the band steering feature (I think that's what it's called) to use both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, but when it's enabled, nothing works. I think it's a router issue, though, because the feature was disabled and I only noticed it because the 2.4GHz LED wasn't turning on on the extender. I don't know if it's related to the problem I described above.
So, I need an extender that automatically connects every morning when I turn it on, without having to re-install it each time. Should this do that? If not, could you suggest a model that does. Thanks so much for your help.

@Joseph-TP Yes I have to set it up again to connect to the WIFI network. And it is losing connection to the router randomly. Sometimes reconnectioning and sometimes not. It never did this with my other routers from Talk Talk and Vodafone. It has a strong signal to my router. I bought the extender for ethernet so is close to my router aprox 6m from upstairs to downstairs.

Hello @Saracen666 ,
Thanks for getting back to me.
So you set the RE500X in Repeater mode, and set the Power schedule via the Tether App, right?
When it was unable to reconnect to the router, could you detect the RE500X's WiFi signal? Is it the default SSID like 'TP-Link_XXXX'?
You mentioned, ' It never did this with my other routers from Talk Talk and Vodafone.' Do you mean that the RE500X can be reconnected to these two routers after rebooting?

Hello @Robwing85 ,
Thanks for contacting our community.
For hardware and firmware versions, you can refer to How to find the hardware and firmware version of my TP-Link device.
So you didn't set a power Schedule for the RE500X, but instead fixed the Switch to restart the RE500X, right? This situation is not exactly the same as Saracen666's.
When you power the RE500X back on, can you see its default SSID? Like 'TP-Link_XXXX'.
How long do you usually wait to restore the network on your RE500X, only to find that it cannot automatically reconnect?

Thanks for the reply. When I go to sleep, I turn it off and when I wake up, I turn it back on. So, after 6-10 hours, depending on the day. The extender's SSID never appears in the Wi-Fi network list. However, last night it stopped working while I was watching a movie (the 5GHz and Wi-Fi LEDs went off. Only the main power LED was on). Furthermore, no device, even in other parts of the house, could access the network. Everything was restored only when I physically unplugged the extender from the power outlet. In short, it's causing me more problems than anything else. I think I'll return it and buy a Powerline kit. Maybe that's a system that will work better for my needs.
