Model: ER707-M2
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: ER707-M2(UN)_V1.0_1.3.1 Build 20251009

To start off this was a previously working system until about two weeks ago when this issue started.  I did not make any changes, but automatic firmware updates were enabled.  A power outage did occur around this time.  At this time I had an ER605 as the gateway.  The ER707 is new as of a few days ago after I thought that it might be the issue.  Surprise, it wasn't.

I cannot get my gateway to connect to my cable modem.  I have tried two different modems; an Arris Surfboard and a Netgear Nighthawk.

The Surfboard will serve what looks to be proper addresses for the cable provider, but will not pass packets.  Ping and tracert stop at he modem.  MAC Address must be cloned for it to connect.

The Nighthawk will not even connect after provisioning even wih the MAC address cloned.  I cannot ping the modem.

I can connect my laptop idrectly to each modem and have internet access.  I can put my old Deco router on the modems and the internet works.  Omada fails every time.  I feel that I am missing something, but I have no clue what it might be.  My network is nothing special, Modem -> gateway->switch->wired and AP's. No VLANS, filtering, etc.

I have tried everything I can think of;

1. Resetting the modem with just the ER707 connected.

2. Rebooting everything.

3. Trying Unicast DHCP.

4. New VLAN

5. Using old ER605

Any ideas are welcome.

there should be no problem connecting the router to a modem, wan is default port1, when you connect to your pc what ip do you get? default lan ip on ER707 is 192.168.0.1/24 if you get the same ip from the modem it will conflict and not work

I wish it were that simple.  Modem is on 192.168.100.1.  I have tried 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 on the gateway.  Didn't help. Still fails.

I have tried WAN1, WAN2, WAN3, etc as well.

PC gets 174.74.216.x for gateway, IP, etc.  Which is correct for Cox.  Arris also serves up this address range, but no connection.  Netgear won't even connect.

ok, then I don't know what it could be, I have two of those routers myself and they work every time, both routers get ip from dhcp.
if your pc gets 174.74.216.x then it's a public ip, how can that happen since the modem has ip 192.168.100.1?

Never needed a VLAN Tag before.  Nothing I can find in the supportt that says anything about it except for their obsoleted security system.
