Red Dead Redemption Netflix on Mobile - Optimizing Archer Router Settings?

Hi everyone,

Hoping for some advice from the networking experts here. I've been really excited to play the new Red Dead Redemption released for Netflix members on mobile, but I'm running into some frustrating network performance issues on my home Wi-Fi.

For anyone who wants to see which game I'm referring to, this is the page for it:

It seems to be very sensitive to network stability, and I'm trying to figure out if I can tweak my TP-Link router settings to get a smoother experience.

Game & Device Information

  • Game: Red Dead Redemption (via Netflix Games)

  • Device: Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

  • Connection: Wi-Fi 6 (5 GHz band)

My Network Setup

  • Router: TP-Link Archer AX55

  • Firmware: Latest version installed

  • Internet Plan: 500 Mbps fiber

The Problem

While playing, I experience random, brief moments of high latency. The game doesn't disconnect completely, but it stutters, which suggests a momentary drop in connection quality. This happens even when I'm standing right next to the router. I believe the game requires a constant, stable stream of data, and my setup isn't quite optimized for it.

What I've Tried So Far

  • QoS (Quality of Service): I've set my phone as a "High Priority" device, but it doesn't seem to have made a significant difference.

  • Channel Switching: I used the Wi-Fi analyzer in the Tether app to move to the least congested 5 GHz channel.

  • Standard Reboots: I have rebooted my phone, the router, and the fiber modem.

  • Guest Network: Tried connecting to the main network instead of the guest network.

Has anyone else played this game on their network or have experience optimizing an Archer router for a demanding streaming game like this? Are there any specific settings in the advanced menu, maybe related to airtime fairness or NAT Boost, that I should look into?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
