Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.1 Build 20250821 rel.70686(4555)

I'm experiencing intermittent connection drops where my devices (phones, laptops, etc.) suddenly lose Wi-Fi and fallback to the 2.4GHz band, resulting in very low speeds and poor performance.

Network Setup:

  • Main Router: TP-Link Archer AX55
  • Satellites: 1x Archer AX55 + 1x Archer AX12
  • Configured as an EasyMesh network for whole-home coverage.
  • Firmware: AX55 1.4.1 Build 20250821 rel.70686(4555) - AX12  1.2.1 Build 20250729 Rel. 73566

Symptoms:

  • Devices refuse to connect to the 5GHz band when set to 160MHz channel width, causing drops and forcing re connection on 2.4GHz (with bandwidth capped at ~20-30Mbps).
  • Signal strength and coverage appear fine; no physical obstructions or interference noted.
  • This started after updating to the latest firmware—everything worked flawlessly before.

Troubleshooting Tried:

  • Restarted all devices and routers multiple times.
  • Reduced 5GHz channel width to 80MHz: Issue resolves immediately, and full speeds (up to 500+Mbps) are restored.
  • Checked for channel interference using Wi-Fi analyzer apps—no obvious problems.
  • Verified EasyMesh sync and backhaul (using wired where possible).
  • Tested with a single device: Same behavior.

Expected Help: Has anyone else seen this with recent AX55/AX12 firmware? Any beta firmwares, settings tweaks (e.g., DFS channels, beam forming), or hardware workarounds? TP-Link support, please advise on a fix or rollback option.

Hello @MEDINEM ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ISP modem—AX55—AX12)))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Have you updated the firmware on both routers simultaneously? Does 'Tested with a single device' mean that even when a single router is running at 5GHz 160MHz, the wireless clients cannot connect to the router?

We cannot directly downgrade these two routers at this time. However, we would like to collect backup files and system logs to analyze the cause.

Please refer to the FAQs below to collect system logs and backup files of the router:

How to view and save System Log of TP-Link wireless router

How to create and restore from a backup file on your TP-Link Router

Then email the logs and backup files to support.forum@tp-link.com, attaching [Forum ID 848382] and details, and we will have a dedicated person to assist in analysis and follow-up.

Hello  @Joseph-TP ,

Thank you for your kind response.

To provide more context, here's a simplified diagram of my current network topology:

ISP Modem — AX55 (Main) — AX55 (Satellite) )))((( AX12 (Satellite) )))((( Client Devices

Yes, I performed a firmware update on both the main and satellite AX55 routers simultaneously (with auto-update enabled). However, after enabling 5GHz at 160MHz bandwidth, I am unable to connect to this band at all—regardless of the channel selected. I'll attach the relevant logs for your review and send it via email.

Please let me know if you need any additional details.

Best regards
