Model: RE205

for some reason at random times the RE205 loses its internet connection and i have to restart the main router to fix it, this is quite annoying specially throughout the day

when the problem first started till now i have done a factory reset on the main router and its still happening, no idea if its a setting i can change or something else, its close enough for a good connection so i dont think thats the issue

router: TP-link archer vr2100v v1 on latest firmware

range extender: TP-link RE205 on latest firmware

Hello @Zohan2000 ,

Welcome to our community.

For your case, please try the following steps:
Scenario One: If the Signal, 2.4G, and 5G LEDs turn off when the extender disconnects:
1. Make sure the extender’s Wi-Fi name is different from your router’s Wi-Fi name.
2. Update the extender’s firmware to the latest version available from the TP-Link website.
3. Reposition the extender to ensure it receives a strong signal from your router. For optimal placement tips, see How to place your wireless Range Extender for optimal reception and performance.
4. Set your router’s 2.4GHz wireless channel to 1, 6, or 11, and the 5GHz channel to Band 1 (channels 36-48).
Scenario Two: If the Signal, 2.4G, and 5G LEDs stay on when the extender disconnects:
1. Again, ensure the extender’s Wi-Fi name is different from your router’s.
2. Confirm that your router itself maintains a stable internet connection (try connecting directly to the router’s Wi-Fi to check).
3. Update the extender’s firmware to the latest version.

Yesterday

@Joseph-TP sorry for the late reply, the lights stays on, on the extender, only happens when a friend comes over and connects his laptop and phone to the WiFi, after restarting the main router everything goes back to normal for awhile till it happens again
