Model: Archer TBE550E
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Just bought a new TP-Link Archer TBE550E

Downloaded latest driver and firmware

Then doing speedtest and slower download/upload now than before

Older TP-Link was much faster than this new one

I have EERO 7 and have 2GB download/upload plan

When watching videos in Amazon before purchasing, they showed faster speedtest after installing this new card.

Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated

Thank you

Hi,

What model was you previous Wi-Fi card? What sort of speeds are you actually getting at what distance from the router?

Note that an Archer TBE550E cannot achieve 2 Gbps wireless speed in combination with an eero 7 (the non-Pro).

Hi,

I had TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi Card (Archer TX3000E) before and was getting about 500MB/400MB on a 2GB Internet Plan.

With this new TP-Link WiFi 7 BE9300 PCIe WiFi Card for Desktop PC(Archer TBE550E) after now getting about 400MB/300MB on the same 2GB Internet Plan.

I was hoping at least get a better speed than 500MB/400MB from previous year old card to this new one.

Is there a way to achieve at least 1GB on a wireless card with the EERO 7?

Thanks!

If you only get a maximum of 500 Mbps, then either your computer is some distance away from the eero router, like in another room, or the 5 GHz Wi-Fi of the eero router is not operating at 160 MHz channel width.

In general, Wi-Fi is only really fast when Wi-Fi router and Wi-Fi client are located rather close to each other and there are no obstacles in between them. For example, with a solid wall in between it is nearly impossible to achieve 1 Gbps over Wi-Fi, especially as modern Wi-Fi cards are only made in 2x2 configuration (-> two antennas).
