For a while now I've had my devices randomly disconnect from the WiFi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, tho it happens less frequently with 2.4, I just didn't pay enough attention to notice it. Tinkering with settings didn't really change much and it appears to be completely random, sometimes devices remain connected for like 4 hours before disconnecting and sometimes it happens after like 10 minutes. Most of the time this happens when devices are idle, but I've seen it happen during use as well.

 

Another issue that I noticed was that after being connected for a while, the entire connection would slow down, and this is noticeable in certain apps with a lot of media, since it always starts loading or buffering. Also, some sites just get stuck on loading or take a very long time to load. 

 

Disconnecting and then reconnecting fixes this issue and media and sites load instantly. At first I suspected it was my ISP, but after comparing with 2 different routers, I wasn't able to reproduce this, which makes me think there is something wrong with the router or its firmware.

 

I found a bunch of posts on this exact issue for different Archer routers online and even this one here for example for the Archer AX12: original post , official post.

 

It looks like the solution was to install beta firmware, so I was wondering if there was one for the AX17 as well?

Welcome to our community.

 

It appears that your router's network is unstable. Furthermore, some sites may experience slow loading times.

Please try the suggestions of the FAQ: Troubleshooting: Unstable connection on the TP-Link router?

 

When did you buy the router? And when did the instability start? If another router can work stably, it's also possible that there's a problem with the Archer AX17's wireless broadcast function.

We haven't received similar feedback yet, you can try contacting Local Technical Support to see if there are any other suggestions.

I bought the router about a year ago, at the time there were no apparent issues except one time when I wasn't able to log into my Microsoft account, which turned out to be a DNS issue (I also made a post back then).

 

But later on, after getting a new phone (Galaxy S25) I noticed that it kept disconnecting every once in a while. For example, sometimes during use I would just see the WiFi icon disappear and then start blinking as it's reconnecting to it. Other times, after the device has been idle for some time I would notice upon unlocking that it isn't connected to the network and it would start connecting after that.

 

I already tried disabling some settings under Intelligent Wi-Fi on the S25 and I also tried switching changing channels on both the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz network. I also tried changing from ax to ac but it kept happening. Soon enough I realized that my phone was not the only one impacted, as other devices were also having the same issue.

 

As I also mentioned above in my original post, another issue that started happening was that the network would get really slow if the device did maintain the connection for a while, and only reconnecting manually would actually get it back to normal speed. As far as I remember, the 1.2.1 firmware was also released around the time, which Is why I thought it was related to that.

 

Regarding the beta firmware, while waiting for the post to get reviewed I searched a bit and ended up finding one beta firmware for the AX17 named 'AX17V1-2048-up-ver1-2-1-P1[20250928-rel43065]_2025-09-28_13.31.57' on the Hungarian TP-Link page, which is interesting since I bought my router in Romania but the Romanian page doesn't display this firmware, but it is definitely for this router.

 

Still, I'm not sure if it's the latest, considering that beta firmware usually isn't uploaded to the official page, which is why I made this post asking for it in the first place. Anyways, I ended up installing this firmware since the changelog mentioned that it should increase stability and I will test and see if the disconnects still happen, since it has been only about 20 minutes.

 

The only thing I have noticed so far is that it disconnects from the 5GHz network and switches to the 2.4GHz one if the signal on the 5GHz one drops to about 1-2 bars, though I'm not sure if this is Samsung/Android behavior, but I don't think I noticed this happening on the previous firmware.

Could you confirm that this is the latest beta firmware and is the transmission power change the only thing different compared to stable 1.2.1? Also, if new stable firmware is released in the future, would I have to manually update by downloading it from the official page, or would OTA also work?
