Hello there TPLinkers!

 

Can someone share some knowledge regarding some issue I encounter with one with my  C64's please?

I have an EasyMesh with 2 C64's in the house. I use a gpon from my Internet provider. 

Since November last year one of my routers is having a recovery boot loop start/ restart issue (all led lit and only one flashing rapidly!). Have no idea why but tried all firmware possible and all methods of writing firmware on this device... it works a few hours than fails and goes back to a recovery boot loop for who knows what reason.

I did check the power adapter, change it with a bigger one, amps wise, I have the same result, recovery boot loop after few hours of use. I also open it and did not noticed any burned or hot components visually, the only round capacitor on the board is ok...

Is this C64 garbage and I should replaced it or there is some other solution like a beta firmware that could stabilize my device?

Based on your description, that seems like a HW issue with the device. Either contact your local support to be advised further or buy a new one.

@terziyski Thank you for this answer. After all of my attempts of course, this is also my only conclusion since I just wake up in the same situation, no matter how I manage to fix this device. Sadly, this is a short lifespan for this router...it is cheap of course but does not seem very reliable. I did purchase another one, same model unfortunately. Yesterday I decided to switch to another model with wifi6 and the Archer C64 will be used as an extender with OneMesh function. The device (Archer C64 in discussion of course!) just start to work normally if I unplugged it and after a few minutes I start it again, BUT, BUT... every startup just assign itself another MAC address!!! JUST WHY AND HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??? Any idea though about why this model could have failed hardware wise? Could be something wrong on the GPON side, even if that device does not show any errors?

The MAC addresses of the router should be persistent and they are printed on its bottom sticker.

If you have an ISP GPON router you may try to configure Easumesh with both C64 in AP mode to rule out any misconfiguration - details.

Hi @MadK9 ,

Welcome to our community.

 

Please note that the OneMesh™ router can only be combined with OneMesh™ RE or OneMesh™ PLC to build Mesh networks. In other words, you cannot use two OneMesh™ routers build a OneMesh network.

However, I think you probably configured EasyMesh Network, since many models now support EasyMesh.

 

 

So now you have three routers, and they're all working correctly? The looping restarts are no longer happening?

Have you previously swapped the roles of the two Archer C64 units, specifically by setting the looping restarts unit as the main router for comparison?

May I know the model of your new router? Please tell me your entire network topology now. For example: 

GPON router—new router—C64 )))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

Hey Joseph.

This device only supports EasyMesh of course. 2 identical devices. The older one is acting up as described in my initial post. I write the firmware, after a a few hours this device just crash and enter recovery bootloop, unplug it from power source, let it sit for a few minutes than it works again, but... with different MAC... and so on...

Any way, I bought another model a few days back, an ARcher AX17, this also is EasyMesh compatible and works as a main router now and the other good C64 as a satelite. No issues so far but still want to know why the older C64 is acting up this way.

I have connected like you said, GPON --- AX17 ---wired PC and TV, wireless clients

                                                                           --- C64 as satelite --- wireless clients.

 

P.S. Did not tried a swap because I have lost my patience with it... so, now I just want to know what the heck was wrong with it and if it is dead for good or only messed up for whatever the reason...
