Firmware Version: 1.2.5 Build 20251028 rel.38584(4555)

Hey everyone o/

I recently got an Archer BE550 and was initially very impressed, but I have run into a problem that has occurred 3 times at least.

What happens:

Without any real warning or any specific reason it just drops all devices completely from the network. No WiFi, No LAN.

The only thing that fixes it is to manually restart the unit.

The logs do not indicate anything specific that seems to be the problem and I haven't seen the same logs when happens.

I have seen some other threads in different forums that talk about the same issue, but it doesn't seem like there is ever any real answer on how to resolve this.

Troubleshooting I have tried:

- Disabled OLM

- Disabled fair use

- Changed through a few different WiFi settings

- Factory reset and re-setup

- Used the initial version it came out of the box with

- Updated firmware to the version listed above

My setup:

WiFi devices:

  • 2 x Midea Aircons
  • Google Pixel 8
  • Ubuntu HP Laptop
  • Hisense TV

LAN: (3 physical ethernet cables)

  • Windows PC
  • Android TV box
  • GMKtec mini PC (below what runs on it)
  • Proxmox with 3 Linux containers. One of these containers have a static IP and has a network share on it using Samba. Weird thing is that it never shows up on the router as a device even though it works perfectly.
  • One of those linux containers runs Docker and has a media server on it that streams to my internal devices.
  • The above devices all connect to the router through the GMKtec 2.5Gb network ethernet connection since they are all virtual except for the proxmox since it is the main OS/device.

My internet connection is a fiber connection with a fiber termination box that goes to an ONT and then connects to the WAN port on the TP-Link router.

I think that covers about everything. Let me know if any more information is needed.

I REALLY need this resolved since this is incredibly irritating to deal with.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello@StefanFrost ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:

ONT—Fibre device—BE550 )))((( client devices

(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )

When the network drops, what is the LED status on the router? And what is the error message on the clients?

It seems that the WAN connection is unstable. Please try the following troubleshooting tips:

    1) Connect a PC directly to your ISP device, bypassing the router, to verify if your ISP's Internet is stable.

    2) Ensure the Ethernet cable connecting your modem to the Router is properly connected, and replace old wires with new ones.

    3) Please change the DNS Server of the Router, log in to the web management interface of the Router, go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Advanced Settings, and change the two DNS Servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.  How to Change the DNS servers on the wireless router and DSL modem router (New UI)?

  @Joseph-TP Thanks for the reply.

1.) The ISP hardware is solid as a rock. Lights are on and when directly connecting to it everything runs without problems.

2.) Tried 3 different cables and all do the same thing.

3.) I have tried Google DNS, Cloudflare DNS and my ISP DNS. None of them help resolve the problem.

The problem is that all devices completely lose their DHCP IPs. When doing an ipconfig the adapter shows no info on the connected adapter and this happens at the same time for all devices on the network. Obviously WiFi devices also show status as disconneted.

It seems either a.) the entire router crashes and needs a restart or b.) the network/DHCP crashes, but functionally this shows up the same to me since using the network is how I access the device.

I should also note that I use IP reservation on the DHCP, all done through the proper router interface and UI.As well as MAC address whitelist.

My previous router TP-Link Archer AX50 never had this issue using this same setup. The only reason I upgraded to the EB550 is for the 2,5GB ehternet ports.
