Model: Archer NX600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 3.0.0

Hello,

I have been using the Archer NX600 for a few days, and overall the router performs very well in terms of stability, band management, and Wi‑Fi strength.

I have a professional Pointing external antenna with Hyperflex 10 cables, and I previously used the Deco X3000 5G for about a year. Despite the high speeds achieved with the Deco (minimum 350 Mbps, maximum 700 Mbps), the connection was never completely stable, even with excellent signal. The Deco’s processor likely could not optimally handle packet management, causing occasional delays or stuttering when using Teams, banking apps (Klarna), or streaming.

Now, with the NX600, I have noticed a significant improvement:

More efficient band management

Overall better stability

Faster response of devices (Alexa, TV, etc.)

Constant signal even at idle

However, I have encountered a critical issue regarding 5G cell management:

I have two nearby BTS: one about 300 m away and one about 1200 m away.

The router automatically connects to the nearest BTS (300 m), which is less performant than the one at 1200 m.

Currently, it is not possible to force connection to a specific BTS (Cell Lock), as was possible with my previous X3000 5G.

I would kindly like to know:

Whether the Cell Lock feature is planned for a future firmware update.

If there are any advanced methods (even undocumented) to force connection to a specific BTS.

Confirmation whether the NX600 hardware technically supports this function.

I believe this feature is essential for advanced users with external antennas or environments with multiple nearby BTS.

I hope the technical team will seriously consider this request and provide precise guidance regarding the firmware roadmap.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Best regards,

@Luca75 please tell me if you found a solution to your problem. I have a similar problem which requires cell lock.

You may be lucky and the tower far away supports a frequency which the closer one does not have, so you could force that band.

In italy we have a site where you can check each BTS and their supported bands "lteitaly" (requires free account for all informations), may there is something similar for you in your country.

I ended up buying an external directional panel router, and it brilliantly solved all my problems.

  Hello @Luca75

Interesting, very, could you please share what model and/or brand did you use to get resolved this issue ?

Is it an indoor or outdoor antenna ?

Thank you in advance

In the end, I went with the Zyxel FWA710. It’s expensive, true, but the quality is obvious. In my opinion, it makes no sense to save 100 euros just to end up with a product that suffers in the heat or has unstable firmware: with this one, you install it, aim it, and you're done.

I bought it from Getic because, honestly, I didn't trust Amazon for a piece of gear like this; products there are often items that were already tested and returned by someone else. With Getic, I had great service and the certainty that the box was sealed for the first time, even though they still offer a 30-day return policy.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and, honestly, I’ve almost forgotten it’s even on the roof. I think that's what technology is for: when you forget you even have a device because it never gives you problems, it means you bought the right product.

In terms of performance, the Cell and Band Lock make all the difference. My BTS is about 1.5 km away, but I have several other towers on the sides causing interference... by locking the cell, the result is excellent. At night I hit around 650 Mbps, and even during the afternoon or evening, it never drops below 300. I’d much rather have rock-solid stability and run a direct LAN cable than mess around with RF cables and passive antennas just to squeeze out a few extra megs.
