Hello,

My name is Olaf. I'm new here and need the community's help.

I want to rebuild my home network. It's important to me that I have a mesh Wi-Fi network. I also need additional LAN ports in two rooms. Currently, I'm using several Fritz!Boxes that are mesh-capable and support AP mode.

My idea is to use a vX800v as a DSL modem and connect it to other vX800vs via Ethernet (just like the Fritz!Boxes are currently connected). According to TP-Link, the vX800v doesn't support AP mode. The mesh network shouldn't be a problem since the vX800v supports Easymesh.

Is this feasible? Can't the vX800v use an existing internet connection through a modem?

I would be very grateful for your tips and experiences with this kind of configuration.

Best regards, Olaf

You won't be able to use VX800v as a satellite device in an Easymesh setup according to this guide:

" For TP-Link EasyMesh DSL Modem Routers & 4G/5G Routers, such as the Archer VX1800v, it can only operate as a main router, while does not support operating as a satellite device. "

While VX800v doesn't support AP mode, you probably may use this guide to set it as a plain AP, but not in mesh with the main one.
