Hi everyone,
I’m planning to set up a Deco X10 mesh system in my home. I want to place one unit in the living room connected to the router, and the second unit in my bedroom, but instead of running an Ethernet cable, I plan to use Powerline adapters to connect it back to the router.
My questions are:
Will the two Deco X10 units recognize each other as part of the same mesh network when the second unit is connected via Powerline + Ethernet?
Will devices automatically roam between the two nodes under a single SSID?
Are there any limitations or special settings I should be aware of when using Powerline adapters as backhaul for Deco X10?
I’m aware that X10 units don’t have built-in PLC, but I want to confirm if this setup will still function as mesh.
Thanks in advance!

  Hi @Antonis7

Welcome to the Community!

Thanks to the convenience of Powerline networking, your Deco X10 nodes (or basically any other Ethernet-connected networking device) won't know they're connecting via Ethernet over PLC; they'll simply connect via Ethernet as they would if you ran a cable the full length between nodes. This means your Decos will operate as if they were connected using Ethernet backhaul―no additional or specific settings are needed.

As long as your PLC network provides stable connectivity, you can quickly and conveniently set up your Deco Mesh via the Deco app.
