WiFi Speed Drops While Browsing Certain Websites – Any Fix?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been experiencing inconsistent WiFi speeds on my TP-Link router. Streaming and downloads work fine, but sometimes while browsing regular websites, pages load very slowly or partially.
For example, when I was checking something like 7 brew menu, the page took longer than expected to fully load, even though my internet connection is stable.
I’ve already tried rebooting the router and updating firmware, but the issue still happens occasionally. Could this be related to DNS settings, channel interference, or something else?
Would appreciate any suggestions to improve browsing performance. Thanks!

Hello @petail ,
Welcome to our community.
This type of anomaly, where certain activities work fine but web browsing is slow, can often be DNS-related. Here are some steps to help this:
1. Change your DNS Server:
This is the most likely solution for your specific issue. Log into your router's web management interface (http://tplinkwifi.net), go to Advanced > Network > Internet > Advanced Settings, and change the DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 (or try 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). After updating the DNS server, reconnect your devices to the router network to ensure the new DNS settings take effect.
2. Check Parental Control settings:
Open the Tether app and go to Parental Control. Make sure no parental control profiles are configured that might be filtering or slowing down certain web content.
3. Optimize WiFi channels:
While you mentioned you've tried automatic optimization, DNS issues and channel interference can both contribute to slow page loading. In the web interface, go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings and manually try different 5GHz channels to avoid interference from neighboring networks.
4. Disable features that may affect performance:
• Go to Advanced > NAT Forwarding > UPNP and disable UPNP
• Go to Advanced > Security and disable SIP ALG
