TP-Link WA 1201 Disconnecting issue.
I am using a TP-Link TL-WA1201 (Hardware Version 3.0) as an access point connected via Ethernet to my router. I also have a TP-Link extender connected wirelessly to the access point.
Every ~1 hour, devices connected directly to the access point get disconnected and are unable to reconnect for a few minutes. During this time:
- The Wi-Fi network (SSID) is still visible
- Devices fail to connect (authentication/connection fails)
- After a few minutes, connection works again automatically
Meanwhile, devices connected to the extender remain stable and are not affected.
Additional details:
- Only 3–4 devices connected to the AP
- DHCP is handled by the router only
- Different SSIDs are used for router, AP, and extender
- Latest firmware installed: 1.15.0 Build 250815 Rel.65233n(4555)
- Issue occurs consistently and periodically
This suggests a possible firmware or wireless stability issue on the access point.
Additional Information:
The device has been stable since 2023. This issue started approximately 2 weeks ago without any changes to my setup, which suggests a recent firmware-related problem.
I attempted to downgrade the firmware to an older version, but the device does not allow it and returns the error:
[upgrade] main version 0x10a00 is smaller than 0x10f00
