Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.3 Build 20251027 Rel.82388

Hello,

I am experiencing a recurring issue with my TP-Link network environment.

Current topology:
ISP Modem 1 + ISP Modem 2
-> TP-Link ER7206 Load Balancer Router
-> TP-Link Deco X50 Mesh (Access Point mode)
-> 2 Secondary Deco X50 units

ER7206 information:
Model: TL-ER7206 v1.0
Firmware: 1.4.3 Build 20251027 Rel.82388

Deco information:
Model: Deco X50
Firmware: 1.3.1 Build 20251122 Rel.36074
Operating Mode: Access Point (AP)

Problem description:
For the last 7 consecutive days, during the night or early morning, the Deco network loses Internet connectivity.

Symptoms observed:
The Main Deco becomes offline with solid red LED.
Deco WiFi network remains available
Clients can still connect to WiFi. (no internet connection).
Devices behind Deco lose Internet access completely.
Clients connected to Deco can still ping the ER7206 successfully. However, the ER7206 web management interface becomes inaccessible from any device on the network.
Some wired devices connected directly to the ER7206 or switch may continue working partially (random).

Important:
The issue persists even after replacing the original Main Deco with another Deco unit. (i first suspected a DECO problem)

I already replaced:
Deco main unit replacement
Ethernet cable
ER7206 LAN port

I tested:
Hardware reset of both deco units that have been tested as primary
Direct connection from Deco to ER7206
Connection through a switch

The problem still occurs exactly the same way.

The ONLY workaround that restores service is:
Physically disconnecting power from the ER7206 for about 20 seconds and powering it back on.

After reboot, the router works normally again. Unfortunately, logs only show entries after reboot, so I cannot see what happened before the issue occurred.

Could you please advise if this is a known issue, and if is there any available solution for addressing this behavior?

Thank you.

Confirm the ISP modems and the 7602 do not share the same subnet.  Put them both in bridge mode.

  @KimcheeGUN

Yes both ISP are on different subnets

Also both are in bridge mode.

ER 7206 has been operating ok for more than 3 years on the same topology.

Problem begin last week after last firmware update. (Deco and ER7206 were updated to newest firmware)

Can you confirm the mesh units isnt causing a loop?

I know sometimes mesh units can cause this issue... Do you have a switch in place?  You may want to put a switch in place and make sure RSTP/STP is running.

Enable remote logging within your site.

Configure a local loggins server.

Then point the logging to that server.  check more detail logs.

This will show you an error before the network locks up.

This will give you some sort of idea.

  @KimcheeGUN

I confirm that Deco B and Deco C are not connected by Ethernet. They only connect through WiFi mesh.

- Current topology
ER7206 --- Ethernet ---- Switch
   Couple couple of servers
ER7206 --- Ethernet ---- Deco A
   WiFi mesh
      Deco B
      Deco C

Also tested these 2 topologies during the week:

Topology A
ER7206 --- Ethernet ---- Switch
   Couple  of servers
   Deco A
      WiFi mesh
         Deco B
         Deco C

Topology B
ER7206 --- Ethernet ---- Deco A
   Switch
      Couple couple of servers
      WiFi mesh
         Deco B
         Deco C

In all three scenarios, Deco B and Deco C had no Ethernet cables connected.

The same problem occurs in all three scenarios.

In the third scenario, the impact is wide because the switch and wired servers are behind Deco A.

Based on this, I do not see an Ethernet loop caused by the Deco mesh units, since only Deco A has Ethernet connected.

Any ideas?

Look at the logging server post i made above.

but you can still have a wireless loop if you Decos are programmed to fail over to other Decos.

I will let you know as soon problem occour again and will see what we got in the syslog server

Thanks

  @KimcheeGUN

Problem showed again during this night

Got the router log at the syslog server

Deco indicates last time online is 04:19

Last message on the syslog server from router is at 04:58

No evident error message before these times

Is there a way i can upload the log so you can helpme to diagnose?

Hi  @Brinistico

Thanks for posting here.

- Current topology
ER7206 --- Ethernet ---- Switch
   Couple couple of servers
ER7206 --- Ethernet ---- Deco A
   WiFi mesh
      Deco B
      Deco C

With this topology, when the issue occurs, the servers connected to the switch are unaffected, correct?

You mentioned this happened after a firmware update. Do you update both the ER7206 and the Deco X50?

Do you remember the ER7206's firmware before this update? If you don't mind, you may downgrade it to see if the issue disappears.

When the issue happened, what were the IP addresses of the Deco wireless clients?  Still correct IP, or 169.254.x.x?

In the meantime, I had created a support ticket for this case, the ID is TKID260577607. You may send the logs via that email; the support team will follow up.
