Hello @Christine91251 ,
Welcome to our community.
Let's go through some troubleshooting steps based on your situation:
Step 1: Make sure the extender's default Wi-Fi is visible
• Reset the extender by pressing and holding the Reset button (may require a pin) for 1 second until all LEDs flash.
• During setup, keep your phone/computer within 3 feet (1 meter) of the extender.
• If possible, try using a different phone or tablet to run the setup.
Step 2: Make sure your SKY router's Wi-Fi is found during setup
• Place the extender right next to your SKY router during the initial setup.
• Ensure your router's Wi-Fi is not hidden. If it is hidden, you'll need to manually enter the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
• Reboot both your SKY router and the extender, then try the setup again.
Step 3: If the extender still fails to connect after setup
• Double-check that you're entering the correct Wi-Fi password for your SKY router. A good way to verify is to forget the SKY Wi-Fi on your phone, reconnect manually, and confirm the password works.
• Check if your SKY router has MAC Filtering or Access Control enabled — if so, this can block the extender. Contact SKY support for help disabling it.
• Make sure the extender's Wi-Fi name is different from your SKY router's Wi-Fi name. (Guide: How to Change Your TP-Link Range Extender Wi-Fi Password or Network Using Tether)
• Try updating the extender's firmware. (Guide: How to Update Your TP-Link Extender Firmware: Three Methods)
• Reset the extender again using a pin (press for 1 second until LEDs flash), then open the Tether app, tap "Add" (+), and follow the on-screen instructions.
• Try setting your SKY router's 2.4GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11, and the 5GHz channel to 36, 40, 44, or 48 to reduce interference. (Guide: How to change wireless settings on TP-Link Wireless Router)
If you've tried all of the above but they don't help, it is recommended to contact Local Support for faster and further assistance.
