thank you. this is what i thought actually. now the question is what router would you recommend? as i am not an expert in VPN so how exactly will that work? i mean i think i will need to connect to the same VPN remotely to be able to see the cameras (i.e. my local network).

hello both,

no there is no p2p on the NVR.

like i said i have 2 sim cards - one with dynamic public IP (with that one I managed reach the huawei modem remotely (with the help of no-ip) but not the local network).

however on this site i need to use the second one with no public IP. this is what i would like to solve somehow :)

thank you

Sorry, I still stick in the P2P - a bit off topic. What Dahua NVR model do you have? Mine is NVR4116H and after latest FW update it has P2P now. Also updated one NVR4108-P for a client and P2P functionality became with the update.

Usually you could ask the new FW from your Dahua dealer / importer.
I have installed mine using Finnish importers FWs: ftp://ftp.wintel.fi/drivers/dahua/NVR-sw/

Just pick up the right file, download and log in to your NVR with Firefox, choose system>upgrade, choose file and click upgrade.

thank you. I got the file but either im blind or it's not there - i dont see any update option in the menu.
also how do you manage to log in with firefox? any other browser except for explorer opens just a blank page.. I have attached a small screenshot with my system version. can you tell based on this if its really 3204?
thanks a lot!!

Well, that looks not familiar to me. Dahua UI should look brown-grayish. How old NVR is it? EDIT: well I see 2013 in your screen capture so it is not so old...

Here screenshot of my NVR4116H UI, there you should find it. Also it could be possible when you use NVR with separate display and with its own UI and put FW file on USB stick.

For me, with Firefox I can login all Dahua devices after installed webplugin. With Chrome and IE it does not always work...

Hmm strange mine looks completely different :/ But i left and will be there again next weekend.
This is what the nvr looks like http://www.dahuasecurity.in/products/nvr3204-3208-3216--2.html
For me only IE works but you need to disable security settings and open the login page in compatibility mode.

I can't see p2p in technical specification and I think that your NVR is too old for p2p service
