I have 2x AV2000 and 3x AV500s. The idea was to replace 2 of the AV500s with the AV2000s - but the link between the AV2000s is slower than the AV500s!

If I connect an AV500 in the office (with the router) then an AV2000 in the lounge and an AV500 in the kitchen, I get 234Mbps to the lounge and 359Mbps to the kitchen.
If I swap the office AV500 for an AV2000 I get 110Mbps to the lounge (AV2000) and 357Mbps to the kitchen (AV500). So the AV2000-AV2000 has more than halved the link speed!

If the 2 AV2000s are side by side I get about 1400Mbps between them as long as no AV500 is on the network. (If there is an AV500 it slows down.)

Any idea whats happening?

In Amazon product comments, TP-Link openly admit that the current AV2000 firmware isn't very good, with a new one coming "soon".

In Amazon product comments, TP-Link openly admit that the current AV2000 firmware isn't very good, with a new one coming "soon". If I were you, I'd return those and opt for the AV1200 product, 8030P in particular. Firmware has matured and improved very nicely on those - even though they're still lacking the final update to Qualcomm firmware core 2.2.1.

Thanks - I'll keep an eye out for updates! I've managed to get acceptable results by moving units between different sockets and trying different combinations of AV500 with them!

Indeed, in a test between the AV1200 and AV2000, the AV2000 performed much worse.

I think the AV1200 can use another firnware upgrade. I'm still suffering from occasional dropouts in my setup. I tried TP-Link's PA8010 (AV1200) and another brand. Would be nice if you could roll out another update.

In the end I found that as long as the AV2000's were on the same fuse I got ok speeds out of them. As soon as I moved them to a different circuit the speed plummeted. Sadly, where I wanted to use them was on 2 different circuits! I resolved the issue by adding an additional socket in the cupboard under the stairs on the same circuit as the second socket. There was already a Cat5 link between the cupboard and the study so I could use that to feed the AV2000. Quite a saga - but I've ended up with 1.1Gbps between the AV2000's, and as there was no way to get a Cat5 to the lounge it was a worthwhile exercise...

Interesting. That's already more than I'm getting with my two AV1200 (TL-TP8010Ps). It's about 60-70 MB/s (600 Mbps) from my router => 8010P => same circuit => 8010P => iMac, However, the drop outs are annoying. Tonight I'm going to try a AV2000. The AV2000 uses the new Broadcom chipset, while the AV1200 uses the older Qualcomm.

Got my TL-TP9020Ps yesterday. So far:

- Speed wise, similar as the TL-TP8010Ps. So 40-60 MB/s (internet => modem => 9020P => power line => 9020P => iMac). Didn't check TP Links tpPLC Utility,
but I suspect it will be in the order of 800-900 Mbps link speed. Be aware that link speed / 8 != raw speed in MB/s. The link speed is up and down combined
and you have to take overhead into account as well.
- Stability. So far so good.

I think the main complaint about TP Link's AV2000 units is that they perform far below the advertised speed. For me stability is first prio.

In the next days, I also want to try another AV2000 product from another brand, to see if there's any difference.

This thread doesn't show when searching for TL-TP9020 or TL-TP9020P so hopefully it will now! I just created a new thread about firmware versions for these devices....
