When you lost connection, what's the status of powerline LED?
Do they keep on?

It's recommended to reset and repair them.
Make sure there is no high power application near the powerline units.

LEDs are keeping on. Powerline LED is red. No high power applications next to powerlines and no significant changes in power applications at all since beginning of problems. After reset and repair it works for a couple of hours. In tpPLC the remote powerlans disappear and appear aperiodically several times per hour until the powerline LED is turning red.
Any ideas? Thx.

Try to move the powerline unit closer to see whether it can get stable connection.
If the issue still exits, it's better to send email to tp-link support for further help.

My M3-ID keeps losing the wireless network setting. It keeps defaulting to its own startup network.Does not happen all the time.....seems like it occurs when it has been off for a while.

Wrong thread.

So if you determine link-drops or enormous speed-cuts, you have to deactivate MIMO in order to establish a good and stable powerline connection.

I had many (similar) issues with link-quality, such as speed-cuts up to <10mbits and link-drops, so i deactivated MIMO and now i do not have connection problems any more,
on average speed @500-600mbits(5 rooms)!

How can you disable MIMO?

I have the red LEDs come on solid once or twice a week with the 9020P devices. It's driving me nuts.

Disabling MIMO just removes one of two signal path alternatives ... and it doesn't help unstable connections. Why does it not? Simple: The two paths (live+neutral, live+grounding) are alternate, so if one of them were actually stable, the device would never lose connection altogether. By cutting down from two alternate paths to one, you are not improving that situation.

The real improvement lies in not using AV2000 kit. Use high profile brand AV1200 kit, from vendors who actually keep their firmware updated. Then there's a major leap forward in overall signal distribution if you have access to the main fusebox in the hose: Install a DIN-rail AV1200 PLC, and feed it wired network straight from the router.

Hint to TP-Link: The AV1200 chip vendor's base firmware is currently on release 2.4, updates to 2.5 have started. Your whole range of kit is stuck somewhere between 2.0 and 2.2, which is ancient and full of well known bugs and limitations.

Why not AV2000?

For me the 9020P is working great when it works. But it falls over too often. I give up and will pay to have the house wired with Cat6. The powerline was a great concept though and useful for being able to relocate gear as needed.

The thing with AV2000 is that firmware improvements from the sole chip vendor (Broadcom) seem to be few and far between, whereas AV1200 chipset maker Qualcomm has gone through five rounds of major improvements by now.

High brand AV1200 adapters e.g. from AVM or devolo are on Qualcomm base firmware level 2.4 or even 2.5 throughout their product range, even on the oldest ones. TP-Link customers are stuck with 2.2 or even 2.0, with the stability and performance you can expect from such old firmware.

And then on top of that, for AV1200 there is a DINrail-mounted PLC unit that goes directly into the main fusebox, wiring straight onto all three power phases. Install that, feed it gigabit LAN directly from your DSL router. I've seen PLC throughput increases from 3x to 8x over your usual setup, particularly on those difficult outlets where signal is a bit weak.

I agree.
I regret that I chose TP-Link. But both brands you named are probably only available within the EU + Austrailia.

9020P V3 has an update btw: https://static.tp-link.com/2018/201806/20180628/TL-PA9020P(EU_UK_AU)_V3_180511.zip
Still 2.2.

I seem to have fixed the red light coming on issue by fitting clip on power cable inductors from ebay to all my mains plugs that plug into the units, and also to all my multigang adaptors in the house.
