Omada SDN Solution simplifies the deployment and management of large-scale enterprise networks, offering easy maintenance, ongoing monitoring, and flexible scalability.

The interconnected elements that work together to deliver a unified enterprise network include: Omada SDN Controller, gateways, switches, access points, and client devices. The next section explains what each element does and how it contributes to the design of your network.

 

 

 

Core Components

 

An Omada SDN network consists of the following core components:

■ Omada SDN Controller

A command center and management platform at the heart of the Omada enterprise network solution. Network administrators can use the Omada Controller to manage all Omada products from a single platform. 

■ Gateways

Omada Gateways provide the routing for a network. They boast excellent data processing capabilities and an array of powerful functions, including IPsec/ OpenVPN/ PPTP/ L2TP VPN, Load Balance, and Bandwidth Control. Omada Gateways are ideal for business networks where a large number of users require a stable and secure connection.

■ Switches

Omada switches offer switching capabilities for enterprise networks, featuring powerful Layer 2 features and PoE options. Smart and Managed Switches offer advanced features such as Access Control, QoS, LAG, and Spanning Tree, while some have L3 features that will satisfy the needs of business networks.

■ Access Points (Omada EAPs)

Omada EAPs support modern Wi-Fi standards to obtain the speed and reliability enterprise networks require. EAPs support features like seamless roaming and Omada Mesh to ensure users stay connected and enjoy a reliable Wi-Fi experience.

 

 

 

Omada SDN Controller

Tailored to different needs and budgets, Omada SDN Controller offers diverse deployment solutions.

Omada Software Controller, Omada Hardware Controller, and Omada Cloud-Based Controller, each have their own set of advantages and applications.

 

• Omada Software Controller

 

The Omada Software Controller is completely free, as are all future upgrades, and can be hosted on any Windows or Linux computer on your network.

 

 

• Omada Hardware Controller

 

Omada Hardware Controller is a management device that comes with the Software Controller pre-installed. The only cost is the physical cost of the hardware, but it is ready to configure out of the box. There are both portable and rack-mountable models, allowing the Hardware Controller to be installed in any network.

 

 

• Omada Cloud-Based Controller (CBC)

 

Omada Cloud-Based Controller is deployed on the Omada Cloud server, allowing management access from anywhere with an internet connection. The Cloud Standard Controller boasts all the features of the Hardware and Software Controllers, but comes at the cost of per-device licensing. However, there is no hardware maintenance required on your part. The Cloud Essentials Controller is a free, cloud-based option, but it comes at the cost of limited functionality when compared to the other controller types.  

 

 

Omada Managed Gateways

TP-Link Omada Routers support Gigabit Ethernet connections on both WAN and LAN ports. They support the routing and segmentation functions required of a business-class router. Omada Gateways also support VPN functionality, which is essential for securely connecting offices together. 

 

Omada Managed Switches

TP-Link Managed Switches offer high-performance and enterprise-level security features, making them ideal for any enterprise network. 

 

Omada Access Points

TP-Link’s Omada Access Point provides business-class Wi-Fi with superior performance and range, which guarantees reliable wireless connectivity for the Omada SDN network.
