ISP :

When connected to VPN, the internet from the router stops and all the devices connected to the router stops getting internet. I will have to restart the router by turning off the power in order to get internet back.

Kindly help how to resolve the issue

what's the model.no of your router? What kind of VPN you connect it to ?

You need to download the app on the phone or PC to use it?
When the phone connect to any other wifi network or use the 4G data, will it has the same issue?
When this happen, how about the lights on the router? Are you able to login to the web interface of the router to check the WAN IP those info?

When I connect the DSL directly to my system, it works fine. When I connect the VPN through the wifi is where i face the problem. The light on the router turns to red and I would not be able to access the web interface. I will have to restart the router by turning off the power.

What kind of device that connect to the VPN and caused the router lose internet? How about other devices connect to the router's wifi with VPN connection?
Suggest also check the FW and HW, update to the latest if not the latest firmware
