OpenVPN Server - traffic only one direction

Hi,
I have an Archer VR1600v that I have been trying to configure as a VPN so that I can remotely access my LAN from the internet. The LAN IP addresses are all in the 192.168.1.x range.
I decided to go with OpenVPN, having used it before. I configured the router as an OpenVPN server successfully with no real hassles. In the router configuration page it reports that it can see a VPN client on the 10.0.8.6 IP address.
From an outside computer (on a totally different internet connection) I then tried to connect to the router. This was successful, and the remote computer was assigned an IP address of 10.0.8.6.
From a computer on the LAN (192.168.1.102) I could ping the remote computer (10.0.8.6). However, from the remote computer I could not perform a ping from 10.0.8.6 to 192.168.102.
A traceroute from 192.168.1.102 to 10.0.8.6 worked perfectly. When I performed a traceroute from 10.0.8.6 to 192.168.1.102 it would timeout on all of the hops - but strangely enough the traceroute identified the hostname of 192.168.1.102. Pinging the hostname directly also did not work.
I have looked through every page of the router setup in a vain effort to try and find some port forwarding options but I just don't seem to be able to work it out.
I don't really care about the ping, I just want traffic to be able to go both ways.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Thanks
