Possibility to change WiFi channels

It's a pity to see that TP-Link support is simply ignoring it's customers. Other Wi-Fi manufacturers like Ubiquiti and other major players are allowing this. I agree that for the majority of the customers the default should be set to AUTO, but we have our reasons to change it as explained in many posts of this thread.

So, I am asking TP-Link for one last time, please give us the possibility to set the Wi-Fi channel ourselves?

I will replace my Deco ecosystem and buy an alternative solution from another Wi-Fi manufacturer if this will not change in the future!

  @fico99 Seconded. TPLink, this is a simple change to keep your users happy. The hardware is fine, and a simple change to your firmware (you could hide it behind an advanced options warning if you must) would make this an excellent product. Please, TPLink? Are you listening to any of us?

There should be an option to manually select channels as the Deco is terrible at choosing the best one on its own

  @cadz I completely agree! It doesn't need to the default setting, but we should be at least have the option to set it manually.

At this moment, my Deco X60 & M5 are using Channels 4 and 40, exactly the same channels as the one from my neighbour while there are still free channels available! This is absolutely ridiculous.

  @jcsogo The year is 2024. TP Link still does not allow this and the app and browser keep selecting automatically the WORST possible and most congested channel for all bands. Its infuriating...

Maybe 3rd party firmware:

I haven't tried it on my deco x60 but I do use openwrt.

  @bjlockie I use x90. And I'm not taking to kindly to the idea of possibly bricking these ridiculously unfeatured expensive units.

@TP-Link

I need to be able to set the channel as two of my neighbors are also using deco and it consistently clashes with my networks.

This is a real issue for me as I have quite a few devices that require a stable and timely responses.

After two power outages and a number of reboots it finally landed on relatively unpopular channel, and this has me seriously considering throwing these units out in favor of another vendor who'll meet my requirements.

This screenshot is from TP-Links own Wi-Fi toolkit app, showing that every single 5GHz network in my area is located in the same channel. How can TP-Link keep saying that the Deco units "intelligently" select the best channel? According to the Deco app "Channel 36 is perfect" which is utter nonsense.
