TP-Link - AC750 WR902AC Travel Router - Firmware upgrade error?

Model: TL-WR902AC

Hardware Version: V1

Firmware Version: 3.16.9 Build 20160905 Rel.58249n

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on my AC750 WR902AC travel router but I keep getting an error message as shown below. The model of my unit is

TL-WR902AC(EU) version.

I currently have installed

Firmware Version:

3.16.9 Build 20160905 Rel.58249n

Hardware version

Hardware Version:

TL-WR902AC v1 00000000

I have tried using the file TL-WR902AC(EU)_V3_170828 and even tried using the US version TL-WR902AC(US)_V3_171229 with no luck. I just keep gettting the error below.

So I even tried shortening the file name but it makes no difference.

Anyone know how to resolve this?

Hello,

to upgrade firmware, we have to verify hardware version first.

Back to your case, the hardware is V3, while you tried to update the firmware for V3, they are not compatible, that is why you got the error message.

Please download the latest firmware for V1 as below:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-WR902AC_V1.html#Firmware

And then you can update it. It should be working properly then.
