Single addition to P7?
Single addition to P7?

Model: Deco P7
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I'm somewhat frustrated. I ordered a two node Deco P7. After installing it, decided a third node would be optimal for our home. Could not seem to find a way to buy a single P7 no matter how I look. Is it possible to order a single addition for the P7?

I went to the Amazon page for the P7 and selected the smallest solution (single unit) and thought I'd found it so I ordered it. Now I discover it is actually an M5 and when you select that option on the P7 page it changes to an M5.

So, I assume the M5 doesn't support all of the features of the P7. The Amazon technician says it is compatible.

Questions:

1) Can I buy a single P7 unit? Where? How?

2) What do I lose from performance perspective by using an M5 in my existing P7 network?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi,

There is Deco P7(2 pack) available for now.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/deco-p7(2-pack)/

Meanwhile, there is no big difference between the M5 and P7 except P7 supports powerline backhaul.

For more details, you can read the datasheets of the 2 products.

https://static.tp-link.com/2019/201901/20190128/Deco%20M5%202.0%20datasheet.pdf

There is a FAQ you can refer to as well.

May it help and have a nice day.

Thanks. That's what I guessed, but it's good to know. I'm disappointed, because I could easily have ordered a 3 pack but went with 2 because of all the "it's easy to add". I really don't need 2 more and the expense isn't trivial. I guess I could send everything back and order a 3 pack or live with an M5 with slightly (presumably) lower quality of service. Thanks again for clarifying. I guess I would ask that the Amazon listing not flip to a different product when an option is selected. Put "order an M5 for single addition" in the description.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, and glad to help you.

You can order a suitable product based on the actual network requests, meanwhile, for the Deco P7 one pack issue, we will feed back our sales department and then they will work on it and handle it.

Have a nice day.
