Compatibility between RE450 and RE200
Hi, I want to increase the wifi range of my home. Previously I already had an RE200, and I wanted to buy an RE450 to extend the wifi range from the RE200 repeater.
Whenever I try to link the RE450 to the RE200 (either by 2.4Ghz or by 5Ghz), once the configuration wizard is finished, when I connect to the new RE450 network, I can not access the internet.
I get the message "No intenet" under the windows network selector, and I can not longer access the web http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254 (it shows me the page does not exists) in order to reconfigure the RE450.
The configuration of the network of the RE450 is the same as that of the RE200 except for the name of the SSID. In the end, I have no choice but to press the reset button of the RE450 to be able to configure it again.
I have tested the RE450 by connecting it directly to the router and it works perfectly.
So my question is: are the models RE200 and RE450 compatible with each other?

Hi,
There is no such issue reported yet, and as my knowledge, there is NO compatibility issue between RE200 and RE450.
Back to your case, we will do further analysis and try to fix it.
1. With router )))((( RE200)))(((RE450 connected, what is the light status of the RE450? )))((( means wireless
2. With your device connected to the RE450, what is the IP address and default gateway? https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/
3. Do you use the host wifi password to configure RE450?
4. Have you ever tried to exchange their location to give it a go?
5. What is the hardware and firmware version of the RE450?
Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

Hi, thanks for replying. Answering your questions:
> 1. With router )))((( RE200)))(((RE450 connected, what is the light status of the RE450? )))((( means wireless
The power and 2.4G lights are blue. The 5G light is off.
> 2. With your device connected to the RE450, what is the IP address and default gateway? https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/
(I think here is the problem)
The default gateway is empty (not set). And it shows me a subnet mask and an IP address that do not correspond to my usual settings.
The current configuration of the RE450 is:
IP Address: 169.254.38.79
Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default gateway: (not set)
The configuration of the RE200 is:
IP Address: 192.168.1.43
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
> 3. Do you use the host wifi password to configure RE450?
If I am understanding you well, I use the same password for all devices.
> 4. Have you ever tried to exchange their location to give it a go?
I'm doing the tests with the RE450 and the RE200 the one next each other.
> 5. What is the hardware and firmware version of the RE450?
1.0.4 Build 20171220 Rel. 73615(6985)
The hardware version is v2.1

Hi,
What about the top RE led? Does it come on?
The current IP address is an invalid IP address, that is why you can not access internet and cannot login to the web interface.
With Router )))(((RE450)))(((RE200 connected by wireless, do you have the same issue?
Meanwhile, is there any special settings on the router or the RE200? like mac filtering, access control and so on.
If possible, you can disable them and test whether it works.
Please tell me the model number of the main router; and the light status of the RE200.
Good day.

The top big light is also in solid blue.
> The current IP address is an invalid IP address, that is why you can not access internet and cannot login to the web interface.
Ok, but why is this happening? I have repeated the setup many times and the RE450 still does not get a valid IP address.
> With Router )))(((RE450)))(((RE200 connected by wireless, do you have the same issue?
Right now I can not test that configuration, but I will tell you something about the RE200 in case I could help. I have two RE200s, one acting as an access point (connected to the router with a RJ45 cable), and another as a repeater. If I connect the RE450 to the RE200 that acts as an access point, it works fine. If I connect it to the RE200 that acts as a repeater, doesn't.
> Meanwhile, is there any special settings on the router or the RE200? like mac filtering, access control and so on.
No, those parameters have not been modified. The router does not have any related feature like mac filtering or access control.
> Please tell me the model number of the main router; and the light status of the RE200.
The router is a Netgear CG3100D
The lights of the RE200 (the one that acts as a repeater) are all yellow: power, 2.4G and 5G.

More information about the RE200. In the past I have also configured them like this:
Router )))((( RE200 )))((( RE200, and I haven't had any issue.

Hi,
Glad to hear that it works now; Setup static IP for the extender is a good way to configure it to avoid the IP conflict or so; and we have noted that. Thanks again for your valued feedback.
If need more help in the future, do not hesitate to come back to us.
Good day.
