Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V8
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I’m running a 3x Deco M9 system, anyway I recently upgraded from 100mbps to 300mbps with my ISP, and I can get 300 over wifi but ethernet is stuck at 100mbps. It’s not the cables, they are cat5e and cat6. I’ve tried directly connecting my pc to the second port of the main deco, still stuck at 90-95mbps yet over wifi it’s at 240-310mbps.

Any suggestions to try?

Hi, so I did some additional testing,
I think the cable I was testing with was the issue. I was assumin a 15m cat5e would be okay to get above 100mbps but i guess i was wrong?

When I did my test with a 15m cat6 i got 300mbps instead. So I think the issue has resolved itself... What i need to do is upgrade all the cabling in my network I suppose. It's a mixture of cat6, short cat 5e's and long cat5e's.

It would be useful to know whether it's the physical interface, the MAC (Media Access Control) layer, or the IP throughput that's limiting things here.  Could you run the windows command

wmic NIC where NetEnabled=true get Name, Speed

and post the results back?  The name tell us what model of network adaptor you have and we should be able to see if it can do gigabit speeds, and the speed will tell us what speed it has negotiated with the deco.

Hi,

With your computer connected to the front-end device/modem directly, what is the speed you can get?

With your computer connected to the Deco by wired cable, please test the wired speed  you can get and the wired link speed.

Note: How to check wired link speed: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/

Could you please show us a screenshot of the speed test on the Deco App to do a comparison analysis?

Besides, please tell me the current hardware, firmware version of the Deco M9 Plus.

And may I know who is your internet service provider?

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

Hi all, thanks for the replies:

ajharvey:
C:\Users\Administrator>wmic NIC where NetEnabled=true get Name, Speed

Intel(R) Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz  585000000

I'm not super experienced with networking but as far as I know i have to go thru the router (Deco M9) in order to be connected to the internet... Because my ISP is using PPPoE which isn't plug & play. when i connect direct to modem i get "unidentified network"

And may I know who is your internet service provider?
My ISP is TM Unifi in Malaysia

Strange, now I get 312mbps which is in line with what I was paying for. Have yet to go thru my whole network switch system to test again but a few hours ago i did already do this test and got 90mbps. Interesting.

Could you please show us a screenshot of the speed test on the Deco App to do a comparison analysis?

Besides, please tell me the current hardware, firmware version of the Deco M9 Plus.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, glad to hear that it was resolved finally.

We have noted that, and the quality of ethernet cable will affect the performance of the internet also.

You can take more time to test the stability and performance.
